Hahahaha not really. My mother gave me a red Trader Joe's mini tote bag as part of my Christmas present. It was the "gift bag" to hold other stuff. I thought it was cute but was curious as to what I would ever use it for. It is somewhere in the second bedroom where I store stuff and clearly I've never used it.
I read a story on the CNN web site a week or two ago about TJ bringing the mini-totes back in pastel colors for spring. It mentioned the fact that the original ones in December became a viral sensation and were resold for hundreds of dollars on eBay. That kind of blew my mind. $300 or $500 for a tiny little tote?
Today my mother was here and she brought me some goodies. . . in one of the new pale blue Trader Joe's mini-tote bags. I was like "OMG one of the viral hundreds of dollars totes!" She looked at me as if I had lost my mind. I explained to her what I meant and she was in disbelief. She said "the store has hundreds of them and they cost $2.99!" I had to show her a news video to corroborate what I was telling her. We could only assume that it was people in areas that don't have TJ stores that want them.
So now I have 2 of them. . . and I'm tempted to take a ride up to the local Trader Joe's on Friday to pick up the max allowed (4) to hang on to. Even if they don't increase in value like the original ones they make adorable gift bags that are literally cheaper than the paper ones you can buy at the drugstore.

That's nutty that people would pay so much for a mini tote bag. Yours does look nice though.

Wow, that’s amazing. I have a lot of reusable bags (no Trader Joe’s though), but I rarely use them because I’m impulsive about going to the store, and I use the grocery bags as trash bags. (A major benefit of being single: my garbage can is a five-pound bird seed container, and my trash bags say “Meijer” or “Kroger” on them.
)
Hey, you have your trip to Cozumel funded if you can sell them!
