Wasn't there just another one like 2 days ago? Welcome to life in America where people's rights to have guns are more important than people's lives to live. They now say we just have to "get used to it". Yup now there is another college shooting.
This is one of the reasons why I hate going to work. School shootings. Like let's tighten up this crap. No one needs an AR. Background checks and waiting periods certainly should be a thing. Columbine was 1999. I started teaching in 2021. I put myself on a list in 2003 that I would stay at the school with students who couldn't immediately reconnect with family. My ex was horrified but I was resolute. I didn't have any external obligations aside from my cats who had a litter box and full bowls of food and water.
As a teacher I fear a school shooting every day. My classroom has 2 doors. The students don't take it seriously. But hey let's let anyone pack guns because MA 2A rights. Idiots.
Now we have at least 6 injured students/faculty due to a school shooting. Ironic that the "pro-life" crowd is also obsessed with having guns. Not very pro-life after like the monthly school shootings. Pro-life means you don't want children killed, right?

That is such a shame they do these things. Are you referring to the Florida University shooting?

I came here twice to see if anyone had written anything about the Florida shooting. I was going to, but was waiting for the news conference due to start any minute now.
As a nation we should be ashamed and appalled. We have become complacent and ''used to this'' I've been told. Are we really so used to school shootings that we accept this as what is called ''the new normal?''
Nope. Just a big, huge, nope. I can never accept this as normal. Two people reported deceased so far, others seriously or critically injured.

If my youngest didn't live there with her family, I wouldn't want to visit there anymore, either. There are special places I love there, yes. But there are special places everywhere, so there are other options.

I am not scared locally, but perhaps I should be. We do not have a school resource officer, but we do have a community policeman that visits our school daily and greets the kids. In our situation, and from things I know, we are more at risk from disgruntled parents. No, it is not any kind of normal.

It is sickening. The last headline I saw a couple of hours ago said 5 were killed and a number injured.
