That's Tuffy in the photo, I caught him by surprise, can you tell?
I'm not used to April getting sand storms, used to be these uncomfortable things would happen mostly in March. C'est la vie
I went out on the front steps a while ago to get this video, I went back inside with sand in my mouth, yuck

A sand storm sounds about as bad as a dust storm . I was in Gallup NM once in February There were probably 50 or 60 MPH winds blowing sand and dirt everywhere. That was fun walking across the parking lot in that.
Tuffy looks like he's wondering what's going on.

I remember when I was young and walking home from grade school. One day, there was a dust storm. It hurt.

@rebelann The dry weather makes the sandstorms worse. The best way is to raise the forest coverage rate .

Thank you.
It has been changing over the decades but sandstorms used to be common in March more so than April and these last 2 decades have seen many changes to our weather patterns except that we still do not normally recieve more than 6 inches of rain in a year and very few winter days.

It sounds like you had quite the adventure with that sand storm! It must have been surprising to catch Tuffy off guard like that. It’s interesting how weather patterns can change over time. I can imagine that getting sand in your mouth was definitely not pleasant. Hopefully, things calm down soon so you can enjoy the weather outside without any discomfort!
Tuffy looks cute though.

I only stepped out of my front door to get this video but boy was that wind strong and you're right, weather patterns change dramatically over the years, this sand storm wasn't as bad as some I had to endure while walking home from school back in the 1960s
Thanks, he can be cute when he wants but likes to hide from me when I want a photo.

I hope your sandstorm has subsided. I drove through one of those when I was newly married to my first husband. We were headed into California. Come to think of it, we also went through one in the Texas panhandle a couple of years later. Neither was something I wanted to remember.

It comes and goes in waves throughout the day but hopefully there won't be anymore after May 1.
The worst one I ever had to drive through was back in 1975 shortly before we got to Tuscon on our way to Phoenix, I had no A/C and the wind was hitting the drivers side, I was alone in my car and couldn't reach the passenger side to roll that window down.
