I have read in my emails on the subject that my area is supposed to have another hot summer. I did some research into possible ways to save on water in the vegetable garden. Here is what I found:
One way to conserve water usage is to use mulch. Hay, grass clippings, leaves, compost mixes, newspaper, rocks, and even cardboard. This practice also helps to suppress weeds and regulate soil temperature.
Another way is to use rain barrels. There are several drop irrigation systems that can be used, too. Drippers set at intervals can reduce the amount of water used in areas where this is a problem.
Watering in early morning and after the sun goes down can also save on water, keeping the water in the soil longer.
The picture is from my collection.

Me too. I would actually eat more veggies then. The ones we get in the stores are like plastic. Few are really any good at all.

@RebeccasFarm ......And to pay premium prices is something I just won't do. So I don't eat many unless it's canned or frozen.

I have a ton of newspaper. I'd like to keep the weeds down in my flower bed.
