No photos in the church, said the Dean

I hope I haven’t written about this before. I can’t find a reference to it.
I always admire my husband for his ability to think quickly and get himself out of many tricky situations. Some years ago, he was asked to take photographs at a niece’s wedding. The couple were well known in church circles and the Dean of the Anglican Cathedral was to perform the ceremony. Vince worked in an Anglican school and had had many discussions with the Dean.
When the couple were about to enter the church, the Dean told Vince he wouldn’t allow photos inside. Vince pointed out he (Vince) had had a nuptial mass at his wedding and, if it weren’t for the photos, there would be no record of a Christian marriage. After some consideration, the Dean allowed photos and even ensured Vince had time to get into position for the signing of the register.
I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able to think that quickly.
The photo is of a small country church in Western Australia.

The presence of mind comes in handy in such situations and your husband has it

That was quick thinking on the part of Vince! I don't know if I would have been able to think that quickly like that. I am always one who needs to mull things over in my head before saying anything.
That is a beautiful little church in your photo.

@JudyEv Wow, that priest was quite the handyman if he built that little church all by himself!
And I'm not sure what the architectural style is called, but it is beautiful.

I need time to think things through too.
I'm glad you like the church. I love the white tuck-pointing if that's what it's called. I wrote about it ages ago but have forgotten the details now. I think it was an assistant priest who built it almost entirely unaided.

@moffittjc I just looked up my old post and I quote: 'The sign in the church porch says the church was built almost single-handedly by a Mr Woodruff, lay-assistant to the rector of the Shire of Beverley. The church was consecrated in 1889 and restored in 1975 and again in 1999.'
It was certainly a big job for one person.

You've used this photo before I believe, I like it quite a bit.
It is simple yet pretty.
Vince certainly did think quickly and his point spoke to the Dean in a positive way and I am sure that your niece was thankful that he was able to get shots in the church.

That's a very smart move. I also attended some occasions wherein taking of photos are not allowed because they hired someone to do it. It's a very nice church, thank you for sharing it here.

I would never have been able to come up with a reason so quickly.

They didn't allow pix at my wedding either. We had to take "posed" pictures after the ceremony.
