The frighful death of Gene Hackman

I have read a lot about the death of Hackman and his wife. And I cannot understand how it could happen.
In my country, people that have the amount of money that I think Gene Hackman and his wife had, also have people that clean their homes. And while I can understand that a person with Alzheimer is not aware that a house is unclean, it seems that his wife could hire people to take care of the house.
I cannot imagine that anyone can die because of the amounts of rodents with hanta virus in the house.
In my country we have a few deaths each year from hanta virus. They are people who go camping in the Andes mountains. The tents are not rodent free and the virus is letal.
I have Anita who comes to clean my house once every week. And I am just a middle class retired person.
How is it in other parts of the planet?

I cleaned my house and did my own garden until I had cancer. And when my husband was alive we did many things between us 2. But now I cannot pick up a broom or a mop to clean much. So I pay Anita.

I used to clean my house and Leticia came each Saturday as she worked at Claudia´s house the rest of the week. But every time I have had dogs, they live outside. Misty stayed nearer wherever I was but in the outside. She got very nervous when I tried to bring her inside if there was rain with wind or thunder. And Luna gets in her own house when she wants to be away from it all.

@sallypup Luna never came inside, not even when she was a 2 month old puppy. I had to have a house for her in a hurry as she would not come inside. And Misty stayed outside, but wherever I was. She never used her house. She slept in the outside of my bedroom´s glass door at night and stood near the kitchen when I was cooking and in the front door when I was in the second floor or in the living room.

@marguicha My dogs run and play in our yard but don't like to be outside by themselves for very long.

From what I read, they just wanted a quiet life to themselves and didn't socialize or anything. If the kids lived out of state they may not have known how bad things had gotten. When you have a lot of money, you also have the clout to have people leave you alone, too. I guess a lawn maintenance person is the one who found them. They had several outbuildings on the property, so a mouse infestation could occur, and no one would be the wiser. It's sad, but I also respect their right to privacy. Many actors have a lot of pride and don't want to be seen in their retirement years.

@marguicha .......Same here. People don't think and they don't think it will happen to them. Like they are barred from it all for some reason.

@celticeagle I have watched on TV how bears attack people in the US but only because they forget simple rules.

Everyone knows what sort of animals live near your home. I keep my window drapes closed because there are flies where I live. I cannot understand why some people keep open garbage cans in places where there are bears. It seems that there are lots of weird things that I´ll never understand.

@wolfgirl569 I know now. But I have a maid once every week and I´d rather stop eating desserts than not having Anita. I cannot clean my house with my hands. I cannot even bend much. And while I was on chemotherapy, Leticia came to my house 4 days a week.

In my country we have a few deaths caused by the hanta virus. But they are all people that go to the Andes mountains to hike for days in summer and sleep in tents where occationaly mice get in. Still it might be less than 5 each year.

Gene Hackman´s wife did not have Altzheimer. And he had children who could hire someone to take care of him.

Same with Anita here. And yesterday my daughter told me that maybe I should try to find someone that could help me more. Maybe a couple of times a week would be what I need now.

@marguicha My husband's 2nd cousin is only coming once a week now to do the trash, pick up my groceries and make sandwiches. She's not working on my to-do list which is getting longer and longer.
