One of my duties is to monitor the compliance of the villages to national mandates and laws. One of these laws is to ensure that the roads are free from any form of obstruction. So, recently, we conducted a Road Clearing Operations to make sure that the villages are complying with this law. I, together with the representatives from other national agencies had an ocular inspection of the villages. The weather was good and we were able to complete the validation on several villages within the day.

That is a big resonsibility you have on your shoulders. Is there a penalty involved if rules are not followed?

Big responsibility indeed! This town has 34 villages. There are other laws that provide penalties but as much as possible, we try to avoid reaching that point so this activity is being conducted once every 3 months. The villages should submit a monthly report to ensure that the community is complying with the rules. What we do is remind the community of the law and if there are obstructions, we ask them to remove those.

@ARIES1973 Sometimes those obstructions could be for the survival of those concerned - just saying

@allknowing We are implementing maximum tolerance. During summer and harvest season, the people are using the road to dry their newly harvested rice and sometimes even occupying the entire lane.

Thanks Sanna. This place where I am currently assigned is an interior town. Reachable via land and with good roads but still far from the city. The roads are not yet congested like that of the city.

Thank you for the appreciation. It's a group effort. Other government agencies are always there to support. The chairperson of the village along with the councils are also doing their part in order to maintain a clean surrounding and an obstruction-free road.

Yes, but there are times when people don't comply with these rules and we need to remind them from time to time. Illegal parking, installing permanent structures on the road way, vendors along the streets are only some of the prohibited practices.

We are in the middle of summer in our place. Actually, now is the perfect time to go to the beach. I'm getting tan skin nowadays because of frequent visit to the villages.
