The Little Rose Bush That Could

United States
April 23, 2025 1:22pm CST
Several years ago, probably 5-7 years now, we needed something planted in front of our house to replace something that had to be taken out. Apparently a neighbor down the street didn't like their rosebush so they "donated" it and it was chosen to be planted beside our driveway to replace the big bush that was scratching our cars when we drove them into the garage. Well it was the most pitiful scrawny dying looking thing you ever saw. We called it a "Charlie Brown Rose Bush" much like the famed Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree. Fast forward that that little rose bush rose above its sickly beginning to become a lovely rose bush with multiple buds and roses and it's vibrant and healthy today and we love it. We talk to it and cheer it on. Here's a photo from this morning of the first bud/bloom on it this year.

That looks like a survivor to me. I loved the roses I had in my garden. I was glad that those that survived my neighbor in Latvia dug out and took to plant himself. I loved the one that was like shocking pink.

It's a lovely looking bloom and the colour is gorgeous. I'm sure it appreciates all your care and kind words. We have a wild white rose bush in the garden which looks really bad until it blooms, and then it's a thing of real beauty. I must post a picture of it when it is in full bloom and I do hope to see more of your rose bush when more blooms appear.
