When I was a kid we always had Columbus Day as a holiday from school knowing that he discovered America. As I grew up I understood that they didn’t teach us everything. Christopher opened the gates for people to come take over the land from the true Americans!
The Trail of Tears started killing thousands of Cherokee Indians having them walk thousands of miles to the reservations! 
So I was against the so called holiday for many years! 
In 2021 former President Biden made the day also to be celebrated as Indigenous Peoples Day! 
However today So called president Trump as declared he is going to make it back to Columbus Day!

Wasting a lot of time trying to change history. I believe we are usually off, but we do not celebrate the day, just as we are off on Martin Luther King Day but both are often inservice days, just the kids get the days off. Lesson plans still involve Columbus, indigenous peoples, MLK, black people and Earth Day. We do not usually have Earth Day off. Teachers do not forget history.

Well when Trump was in office before the Black Lives Matter happened and I am no where near prejudice, I think all lives matter. But it was started then that street and building names were changed, statues removed, history books were removed from the libraries and schools. I know a woman that is a history teacher and no she doesn’t forget but she is only allowed to teach about some things!

I think that this Trump declaration will infuriate many.
We are never really taught everything , just fed the narrative that "they" want us to believe
There are things in British History we were never taught as some rather famous Brits reputations would have been tarnished.
Is anyone able to stop Trump doing this?
