I have seen allot of serious discussion lately and figured I would post this to lighten things up but yet still have a good discussion.
For those that don't know this is kinda like the old beta vs. VHS war and obviously VHS won that. Then there was DVD vs. VCD dvd won because for vcd the would have had to use to cd's and dvd only needed one.
The new one is HD-DVD vs. blu-ray blu-ray has more space and can hold allot more things. So that would basically mean no extra cd for season episode dvds all just on one. The HD-DVD has less space but still allot more then a dvd does. I think what makes HD-DVD more popular right now is that it still had dvd in the title kinda like HDTV.
HD-DVD players are also selling out along with HDTV's again i think it is the name because most people never heard of blu-ray. I think it is yet to be seen which is more stable or last the longest only time will tell I guess.
This is gonna be a huge battle between the 2 in the next year so I am curious which do you think will win it? or which one do you want to win it?

well this kind of discussions have been taking from a long time. Initially there was rumour that either one of them would release or they might be hybrid version of both. while process to create a hybrid version is still going on but now it is clear that both of them are in the market.
I think they will not be any winner in this case and i think both the formats will co-exists just like cd and dvd exists as far as general dvd is concerned. But regarding movies i think hd-dvd will win bcos i think they no requirement to have video quality as high as it occupies 25gb of blue ray disc and even i think people cannot afford for bluray.
