Tattoos - struggling with getting one

I've been struggling with getting a tattoo for years. There are times when I'm so ready to go but don't have the money. Then when I get the money I decide not to!? I finally found exactly what I want but I guess I'm afraid that I'll get sick of looking at it. Strange huh? My husband doesn't want me to get any - although he's got three himself. I want to get them on my wrists...and at the same time. I have to have things symmetrical or it drives me nuts. One is the wiccian rede and "In Perfect Love and Perfect Trust" with a triquetra seperating the start and finish right in the middle of the inside of my wrist. The other is a little something I say about my husband and his name with the "OM" symbol at the start and finish. Both done in elvish type. I love what I got picked out...I guess I'm worried about the perment portion of it...what's your thoughts. I've already discussed to endless lentgh about getting my husbands name tattooed on me. I've been with him for 10 years. If in the future we end up divorced it'll be okay. Why? Cause he's a huge part of my life regardless. I'll ALWAYS love him. And you get tattoos anyway to mark a time in your life - so he's been apart of mine for over 10.

My tattoo - my tattoo
I have two tattoos both of which I have gotten in the last year.Let me warn you if you get one you will definately want another!I have a tribal butterfly on the back of my right shoulder and a fairy on my upper left arm.I love them! They are addictive and they look great when they are done properly. I only have a picture of one to show you.

I wouldn't get one if I was having second thoughts or just get a temporary one. I would be afraid of how it would look when I got older. I know they are popular now but seeing one on an older woman doesn't look too good.

Well, if I were you I would rethink getting them on my wrists....I have one on my lower back but I often forget it is there because I can't see it....I'm still not tired of it either....I've had it for 7 years! My brother in law has one on his wrist and often covers it with a watch because he gets sick of looking at it. I will say this...while it hurts they are somewhat addictive. You end up wanting more. If I were you I would maybe start with just getting his name on you in a less obvious place and see what you think. Then if you seem to be happy with it then go get the rest.

I actually don't want to get it somewhere where I can't see it. Another thing I forgot to mention is I'm getting it in white. So it wouldn't show up real good but you could see it. Yeah...I was thinking of getting a henna. Actually I was going to when I went to Florida but I missed my chance. We went durring off season and instead of getting it the first weekend I decided to wait (time issues) until later in the week and of course they weren't doing it then. Who knows what I'll end up doing.

if you're not sure you might want to consider a temporary skin dye of what you want so you can get used to it and see if it really is something you want to look at for the rest of your life indigo or woad would be good choices, they work in the same way as henna tattoos do but leave blue marks more like a traditional tattoo (rather than brown like henna) you can reaply if it fades I've also heard of tattoos which are semi permanent (again you could have it redone if you really wanted to) but I'm not 100% sure what they involve and what the downsides might be, most good tattoo artists should be happy to talk to you about anything before hand though

When Tj got his i thought it looked great after, i was afraid of tattoos too, but didnt they create a kind of cream you could get that you slap on your tattoo and it earases it over time? Honestly i think you should go for it! :) they sound wonderful and if you want to look at them all the time, and wont get sick of it then why not? but if i was going to get a tattoo, it would be somewhere, where i cant see it all the time, like my lower back, and where i'd forget about it until someone points it out lol :)

I think that you just have to taket he plunge and do it. My husband says that the more you think about getting a tattoo the more you will shy away from it. You have to make the decision that you are going to do it, and then just do it, or if you go back and forth realize that maybe you are not looking to do it and therefore just stop thinking about it. He has MANY tattoos on his body and they are very nice and mark many events in his life. He said once you get one you get addicted to having more done. So I would just say that I think part of what is holding you back is your husband who does NOT want you to get one, maybe you are afraid he will be upset with you and that is holidng you back. Ultimately it is your body and you have to make the decision and then tell him you are going to do it, and then do it. If you tell him you are going to do it and then don't that could be why he figures you should not do it because of your conflicts with wanting to get one.

If you have doubts about getting a tattoo...and having it on for the rest of your life...don't get it! I have 3 and I never ever thought twice before getting them! I love them and I wouldn't get rid of them! But then again if you do get them you can always get rid of them....but it will cost you more money...you should go to the tattoo shop and have them put the outline on and see if you really will like them! DO NOT get your hubands name tattoo'd even though you have been together with him for years...if you ever get a divorce or he cheats or whatever the reason his name will only be a constant reminder of him...I think a symbol or something else that represents him would be better. I have a tattoo on my back that represents my ex bf...we were together for a while but things didn't really work out! I still love him (as a friend)...but having his name would of been the biggest mistake ever! Anyway GoodLuck!

Tattoos can be very sexy on a woman ... but not on your wrists!!! Take some advice from someone who has many tattoos. Put the "Wiccian Rede" down by your ankle and put the "OM" symbol right at the base of the back of your neck. And don't make them too big. One last tip ... pay the extra money for a good tattoo artist, it's worth it!

I want a tattoo also. Sounds like you have your doubts still though. I would not get them if you aren't 100% sure about it, otherwise you'll be more likely to regret it in the future. Personally, I won't get any that can't be easily concealed. My wife has two, one on her lower back, and one on her ankle, both good places that aren't out in the open all the time. So maybe compromise, rather then put them on your wrists, put them somewhere they can be easier to conceal and you'll always have that option down the road. Jim

I got a tattoo just about a month ago, and before that I had considered getting one for about 2 years. I finally did it, and I was really happy that I did.

I think its good that you've thought long and hard about what kind of tattoo you want and the meanings that go along with it. I myself have 8 tattoos - each have a special meaning from a time in my life. Too many people jump right in and get a tattoo just because the moment was there. I agree with your view of having your husbands name tattoo'd on you. =)

I agree with most people on here. You should really think about the location and if you will regret it when you get older.

I don't care for them on women, but hey, that's just me. But, why don't you try the stick on kind. See if you will like the look. It's cheaper, won't hurt, you can get rid of it if you tire of it, and you can make it perfect.

Everyone can do what they want. I know when I was younger and working some people at work wewe going to get a tattoo, and they ask me to go with them. I was going to go and then at the last minute changed my mind, now I am glad I did.Now that am older I can see the small tattoo that I was going to get being a great deal larger. Because when you sag the tattoo gets larger.

I am wondering why people are desperate of doing something not so valuable in life. The tattoo will not make you a better person. Spend your money to something else much worthy.
