Gunnar is my 11-year-old guitar student. We are working on Stevie Ray Vsughn's "Pride and Joy," an enjoyable blues romp. Maybe I'll link that song at the end of this post.
This week,he proudly showed me that he had lost a tooth.
"Didn't you lose another one a couple of weeks ago?"
"Yes.This is my second in two weeks. And this other one is loose."
"Oh,yeah. I can see that. How much did the Tooth Fairy give you for the last one."
"Well, I haven't put that one under my pillow yet.I got five dollars for the one before that."
"Oh oh. I can see you have a conundrum."
"What's a conundrum?"
"A problem you need to solve."
"Yeah. If I put both teeth under my pillow, I might get only five dollars for two teeth."
"It's like kids who have birthdays near Christmas. Can parents get away with giving them one present and calling it their birthday and Christmas present?"
We ultimately decided that he should put one tooth under his pillow, and save the other for about two weeks later.
Do you agree that sound financial planning starts early?
I'll add a link to the song we're working on.

Boy! The tooth fairies paying the big bucks for teeth nowadays. In my day we were lucky to get 25 cents or, on a good day maybe $1. Yes, the earlier kids find out how to handle money the better.

My growing up years was 25 cents for baby teeth. I suppose it would be worth a lot more today, Never heard this before but I like the song nice beat,

I hope he realizes he can't tell his parents he's lost more than one tooth at a time.
A friend of mine was born the day before Christmas and was always given presents for birthday and Christmas together until he was around 12 and threw a fit about it. Then his parents gave him about the same amount of presents as before, but called some of them birthday presents and others Christmas presents... That didn't work out the way he'd hoped.

$5 for a tooth? I remember when it was a quarter. He can start his own business.
