I understand, though I am sorry. Belief can not be in people as we exist, but in people as they have potential to be. God Bless.

Not at all. Christians are taught that god is in our hearts, god is everywhere, and wherever we pray we're heard. As long as someone follows the basic teachings of Jesus, they're a Christian.

The bottom line to be a Christian is repentance and faith. Through Grace we are saved by faith. If you repent of your sins, and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you are a Christian.
Doing these things, however, should cause other things to happen in your life. Seeking out other people who share your faith and that can provide you with support and fellowship, while not commanded to receive eternal life, is a part of a Christians life.
It's not required for salvation, but if you read the Bible God does tell us to worship and have fellowship. I don't think this has to be done under the formal church setting.
I'm not a Biblical Scholar - yet - so I can't point chapter and verse, I have to find my concordance....
I'll try and check back with some scripture references that may help.
