What is your opinion about physical punishment in schools?

I am completely against physical punishment in schools, I can´t see one single reason why it would improve in anything the one being punished.

I am not in favor of physical punishment in the schools. As u hv referred standing for a few minutes, upto that extent it is ok. Because teachers do this just to make a self realisation to the students. U see realisation is also important. That cannot be ignored afterall teachers have the responsibity of developing good citizens. But I am not in favor of beating, caning, whipping etc. That type of punishment should not be given at all. That makes the child adamant, obstinate. These things hinder child's personality development.

I dont think that should be allowed. If my gal got such punushment, I would go to the school to sue the teachers there!
