I don't see where there is a problem with that. Its not violent. I have seen much worse. I'm guessing someone told you that your child shouldn't be allowed to watch it,right? As long as he doesn't get obsessed then it should be ok.

You are right one of my nieghbors seemed to be alarmed that I would allow my son to view this show. My husband and i find the show harmless and at times very funny. Thank you very much for your input. I loved the fact that you hit the hammer on the nail when you quessed someone had express their views on the show.

I don't see any problem with a 5 year old watching sponge bob. The show has been out a few years and my son (who is 7) has been watching it since I came on TV. It is a children's show that comes on a children's network. People who make it more than a simple kids show having nothing better to do with their time.

I have watched Spongebob with my 5 year old grandson. This show is mild compared to some of the cartoons that kids watch today. Even cartoons from my day would often raise an eyebrow or two.

My grandson watches Spongebob. It is funny and does have a moral to the story. I would rather him watch Spongebob than Power Rangers or some other superhero fight em up cartoon.

I agree. Although I do allow my son to watch the power rangers also. My son started taking a tae kwon do class at age three, he respects and understand what is violent and what is pretend. I really wish people would stop blaming TV shows and start realizing it is you and your spouse that have the largest impact on how your child. Everyone needs to ask themselfs one question, mwhat type of person am I and what they will they become.

I too love Spongebob, it is no different than watching any other kiddie show. There really is a lesson to be learned with each episode. Some people think Spongebob is irritating which at times it is. For a 5 year old I can't see any harm, they can only absorb what a 5 year old mind can absorb. So they can't make it to be something it is not. The adults are the ones that make these kind of shows out to be more than they are shown for.

I think Spongebob in general is an okay show for children but I do notice that some episodes are a little violent. It depends to me on the episode.
