Should marijuana be legalized in the US?

Before I say too much about my opinion, I'd like to hear what other people have to say. I quit smoking pot awhile ago and I still feel that it should be legalized, simply in the fact that alcohol is legal and has many more adverse effects and has more addictive qualities than that of the cannabis sativa plant.

Personally, I don't think it should. We have enough problems with drunk drivers in the US, let alone ones you can get high legally. A friend of mine who was in a motorized wheelchair got hit by a guy who was drinking and high. He was killed because of this idiot. This happened in July, so I'm still a little upset about it. I think that drinking should be banned too, because of all the idiots abusing the right to drink. Smoking, on the other hand, has no effects that would affect how you drive or anything. Drinking and smoking pot made me sick when I tried them, so therefore I don't do them.
