it would have been impossible for Jesus to be born in dec because the shepards would not have been out in the cold of Demember. This is a pagan holiday in origin and the early christiians wanted to be accepted by the pagen worshipers so they adapted some of their cultures.Dec 25th was initially celebrated as 'Conquering the Sun Day', in which the Romans at the time, who worshipped the sun, thought the Sun God was pleased with them as the days started to get longer. They would have celebrations and exchange gifts.

I think it is generally accepted that Jesus wasn't actually born in December. However this isn't really important, the important thing is that Christmas is a time to reflect on Christian teachings and Jesus.
It's certainly not a holiday for the Church. I reckon they are actually pretty busy over the Christmas period.

No. The exact time of his birth isn't known, not olny the date but the year also. The church has taken the day after winter solstice from an old pagan celebrity. If you like to read about this more, there is a site for you:

Actually I don't believe it does any matter. Perhaps he would be happier if the people would pay more attention to what he taught us but he wouldn't mind the fact, we are celebrating his birth on wrong day. When we are making Christmas gifts, we are declaring our love to each other, and isn't that exactly, what he wanted us to do? Love thy neighbor...

I'm sorry, but I don't believe in God (or Gods).
So Christmas, for me, is just a good a sort of party... gifts !
But I'm sorry if we don't have the same opinion about life.
