From the beginning of our history in Genesis, it seems that God’s intention was that a man has only one wife. Yet in history, we see that God sometimes condoned, or allowed without reproof, men having a plurality of wives and concubines. Now this brings us to the debate.
Anti-Polygamists say...
Polygamists support abuse.
Polygamy is for underage marriage.
Polygamy hurts women.
Plural marriage is immoral.
Polygamy re-defines marriage.
Pro-Polygamists say...
Polygamists oppose abuse.
Polygamy is only for consenting-adults.
Polygamy can benefit women.
Plural marriage is scriptural.
Polygamy historically outdates anti-polygamy.
My feeling is that if everyone agrees and children are not the ones being married who cares what they do. People can live with and sleep with as many people as they want already. If for some reason the whole group of them is crazy enough to want a legal and lasting commitment, then I say go for it.
