Who are we to judge?

As I walk down the street I see a homeless man sitting in the same spot that he was in yesterday and they day before and i see people walking past him ignoring his smile and greeting, one man even spit at him. It baffles me how someone can do that, this man is not begging for money or harassing anyone, he is simply sitting there greeting people and yet we as a society seem to look down on him and reject him...for what? We don't know his story...we don't know what happened in his life...we don't know why he sits there and greets passer byes. We don't know his story and yet we sit and judge him. I on the other hand choose to return his greeting, I know it is a token gesture and truthfully I don't know his story, but I don't judge him....or do I?

Sadly, Society does not just do this to homeless people. People choose not to greet or be friendly towards others much unless they are doing business with them, which is a shame. I wave, and Smile at someone. About, 2 hrs later they will come find me and introduce me to their so called girlfriend... It's like. Hey Man, I am not flirting, I am just being my friendly old self....
I used to always in school walk through the halls singing, and greeting people, saying Good Morning, At first not one person would wave or smile back or greet back. The friendliness was frightening to them, but over time people would be nice and wave back and greet, and I too been spit on, so its not like spitting is just a homeless thing, People will be that cruel to anyone who shoes the least bit of friendliness, and that is wrong....
I do not like it when people treat other badly for any reason... and I hope that people learn that exchanging a wave and a smile is not a bad thing to do.. Years ago everyone used to wave that passed me on the road, when I was walking. Now, No one hardly waves other than the family or neighbors, I get people who slow down and gaulk, or they flip me off, or yell rude insults... .. You don't know who I am.... So why mistreat me for showing a small act of friendly kindness? ....
It is really pathetic how it comes to be, I understand some people never see me walking there, and are so into their driving, Others are afraid if you a friendly, it is because you want or need something from them. Only thing I want or need, from others is a little friendly smile or wave back! ... And that is not so hard to do... People want to learn the easiest simple thing that can be done to make the world a better place. Try a smile, a wave, and a nod! ... That does not cost anything, and it helps build positive energy to any negative situation...
