My son is two years old, and everyone says he needs to be off the bottle by now what do you think?

The sooner the better. I kept my older teens who are now teens on the bottle longer than they should have been. They had some issues with their teeth. But with my daughter, I weened her off after her first birthday.

All children are different, but age one is still okay for a bottle.
Speak to his dad - tell him he uses a sippy cup, and that you will provide one on his next visit. His dad probably gives him a bottle because it relaxes your son and puts him to sleep - then dad is free without having to run after him, etc. Its just plain easier.
But, tell dad you'll send the cup, and would he please just use it for during the day, and then if he wants to still give a bottle for night time, thats okay. Tell dad how happy you are that "our little guy is growing up" and don't make this a demand on dad - make it something you both decide together. If dad is a jerk and doesn't want to hear it, then you will have to set up a date with domestic realtions and deal with the matter with an arbitrator-
You cannot allow the man to sabbotage your good parenting attempts - you see, he will be interferring with the child's right to learn and grow - do not allow that. As for the bottle, don't freak out too much - my child still had a bottle at age 3 - and everybody else's kids did too - I would have preferred to scrap it at age 2, but my kid just would not take the sippy cup. You are lucky.

Both of my boys got off the bottle at nine months old, the sooner the easier, my one year old is using a sippy cup and a regular cup, and my two year old is using a sippy cup once a day and drinks from a regular cup most of the time. Maybe you should try weening him.

I think all kids are different when it comes to this. My duaghter was off the bottle by her first birthday. I have heard that if they are on the bottle after so long it can mess up their teeth as can thumb sucking. My problem is not the bottle, it is the thumb. She is almost 2 years old (in feb.) and still sucks her thumb. Tobasco (hot) sauce doesnt work, because she likes the way it tastes. I am going to try that stuff they got at walmart. I think you should try to talk your little one into taking a sippy cup. Explain to him that he is a big boy and big boys use sippy cups not bottles. Then maybe he just might not want the bottle anymore.

My baby is 17 months old & still on the bottle. I was told he needed to be off by the time he was around 13 months old--obviously that didn't happen. My two older kids I had off the bottle by the time they turned 1. I'm not sure why he is being difficult.
