What beadwork projects are you working on?

Lately I've been making Y-necklaces for a class I'm teaching at Michaels. I'm looking forward to going to the next Gem and Mineral Show at the Orange County Fairgrounds next weekend (Dec. 3, 2006). Then in Jan. I may get to go to Quartzsite,AZ. That is supposed to be a bead buying mecca and I'm looking forward to it. I have several projects in the works: A purple loombeaded headpiece for belly dancing, a beadweaving goddess doll, and a peyote stitch (gourd stitch) chain for my eyeglasses. Feel free to comment but please stay on topic.

Right now I'm still designing pieces for Orycon 29 in November! I've got a couple of intricate netted chokers in the works; I'm trying to get something that look spiderweb-ish. I'm also experimenting with some old Victorian-style choker designs and having lots of fun with that.

That sounds promising. I was watching Tyra one day and a woman in her audience had a netted choker with fringe. I was so focused on trying to figure out how it was done, I can't even remember what the topic of the show was.

Oh cool another jewellery maker! The last beaded item I made was a peyote stich necklace. That was quite a while ago. I did do a bead and wire bracelet for a competition entry a few weeks ago. At the moment it's silver work and sterling wire, as I'm making an unusual watch. lol

I also want to make a beaded watchband. But so far the watch faces I've found haven't appealed to me. So I'll continue my search. Recently I learned the Potawatami weave. I'm not sure I spelled that right. It makes a very supple 4 bead strand perfect for necklaces. The colors I picked are violet and green and so far it's looking very dainty.

You are quite a crafy lady. I love working with beads and would love to learn how to make more elaborate jewelry. My interest in making jewelry began 25 years ago when I was looking for ways to make a few extra bucks. A friend told me that I should make my crafts and sell them at a craft show. Beading became a pasttime for me and the kids. They loved making necklaces and bracelets to sell at the shows.

I got inspired to do loom beading when I met a very nice and generous Native American woman at the local craft store. Then I saw her many times at craft fairs with the most exquisite bracelets, hair barettes, necklaces and other items, all made on a loom.

i love to do beadwork, and have made such a variety of things that it would be hard to list..unfortunately i don't have a camera or i would post a pic of some pieces i'm specially proud of...i have been beading for about 20 years, and when i started i couldn't afford a loom, so i taught myself how to bead without one and i honestly think these pieces look better than loomed ones. I have made hatbands, neckties, necklaces, earrings, etc. I have been an avid rockhound since a very small child and have even incorporated some stones in with my beading. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time for it right now, and wish i could do some traveling as you are intending to improve my collections. Good luck!

A Hatband - This is loom beading. It says "Dead Men Tell No Tales."
I know how frustrating it can be to not have a camera. I'm saving for a new digital camera. I wore out my old one. Thanks for your intelligent response. I'm new to mylot and can't believe the drivel some people post. I wish I was allowed to delete their entries. Right now I'll have to settle for giving them a negative and hoping they get a clue. I hope between the two of us and new beadworkers that join, we can have a useful thread here. I just spent an hour working on the loom. I have about 4" to go on the current piece, and then I can take it off the loom. I'm also relearning brick stitch which is done off the loom. I just want to be able to demonstrate a little bit of everything because I never know what my students are going to ask me next.

I love beading, but haven't done any for quite a while, and I've only ever done very basic work. The last thiong I beaded, I think, was a smudging feather. I beaded the handle of it with glass beads. In fact, it's sitting on the side, just to my right hand side. I also use beads on the dreamcatchers I make. I do have quite a few beads.. I love them. Really must get back into doing something with them. Gem & mineral show? Sounds like paradise to me! I love those kind of shows, but always end up spending far too much money!

I love beading. Just wish I had more time to do it. And then when I do have the time, it seems like I find something else to do. I am into making bracelets and necklaces. Right now I am working on trying to find the supplies for one I found in a picture. Wish I had my own bead room at my house. Instead I feel like it is all over the house.
