I look for a few different things when it comes to looking for a place to live. I want a place that is quiet and pet friendly as well. I would like a neighborhood that has a few parks nearby and as well perhaps an arena or ice rink because I've always wanted to go skating sometimes. I'd look obviously for a place that is nearby a grocery store too. It makes life easier when you need something you can just run quickly there to pick it up. I'd like a place that has more than two bedrooms that way I could fix the rooms up for guests or make one for all of my collectables. I've always wanted a townhouse or a condo with a backyard for my puppy as well. She needs a place to run around and go to the washroom. I can't have her live in a place where she can't regularly go outside and run around. She's too important to have to give up because the place we move into doesn't take dogs or they get annoyed because when we have to leave her alone she'll howl and yelp. I've had times in my past that when I've moved places I've had to give up my puppy and I'll say this much, that will never happen again. I consider her a part of my family and she is not going to be left behind. I'd like the place to be near a park and an ice rink for the fact that I'd like the ability to have a few places to choose from to go spend some time at. I'd like to be able to not have to go far to go skating if I want. I'd like a park nearby so I could take my puppy for a walk without having to worry about taking her up an alley and getting jumped at the same time or something. I would basically like that the home I choose have some options around it for different things to do and activities you can participate in. One of the other big things I look for in a home is how quiet it is. I don't need a place that's nearby a lot of noise or has noisy neighbors living next door. I've dealt with that in the past and places I have lived and it's really annoying. I don't like the fact that people can't respect their neighbors enough to keep the noise to a minimum. I want a place where I can relax and unwind without having to worry about the possibility of the neighbors blaring loud music at any hour of the day. I truly believe I will only be able to do this in a house of my own or if I have to rent a place, a townhouse or condo. At least with a condo, even if it is an apartment style one there are cement walls which would help to eliminate the noise from neighbors. As well, with those cement walls at least my puppy could howl and yelp and people wouldn't be able to hear it. I wouldn't like to be too far away from a grocery store either because I find we always need to pick things up. To have the convenience of not having to go to far to either pick things up or just to do grocery shopping in general would be an added benefit. I think where we live now isn't that bad for accessibility to grocery stores and malls, but I want a place all my own that will be either just as close to those places or closer. So, in conclusion, those are some of the things I look for when deciding on a new home or a place to live. I think these are all important to keeping up my quality of life and as well making everyone in this family of mine happy. I believe with all of these factors I can find the perfect home for us, it will just take some time. Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

The most important factors are if the area is safe and if the schools are good. I have lived in some areas where it was not safe for my children to play outside and the schools...they can home each day with a different story that upset me in some way. We were not from the area and didn't realize the area was really bad. Sadly, we learned the hard way and moved before the lease was up, but only by a couple of months. But the next thing I look for is if it is quiet, will fit my large family of 9, is the house in good condition (I would hate to live there is there were problems) and distance from the big city. With big city comes crimes, less safety, more traffic, noise, and more.

Countryside is nice, but I have to be boring at the moment, near good schools, parking and jobs. Maybe I'll get my beach front villa later.

I would love to live by the sea, maybe one day when I retire, but now I compromise and have the beautiful countryside which is also within reach of work etc. Thank you for your reply.

I need to have a garden for my cats, and to be not too close to a busy, main road for their safety. I prefer to bein the suburbs, but close enough to bus, and train routes to get into work every day with no hassle. I don't like noisy neighbours either!!! And this may sound horrible, but I don't want neighbours with kids that might chase, or throw thinga, and terrorise my cats!

Considering factors for me as I am not allowed to drive for medical reasons would be a good public transport system, near to amenities, excellent neighbourhood, ideally easy to get into the country or to the coast. Although I am not a city person, never have been! Never will be I supose! Lynn-Marie

The city lights - A picture i took in Manila, capital city of the philippines
My husband and i have been looking at online real estate for sometime before we do buy a house when we arrive in canada. First thing i make sure is the house is spacious. I dont want a crowded place or too many divisions. I like open spaces. I dont know if you know what i mean but thats the first. next, i will for something with big windows so there will be plenty of sunshine that comes in all day long. I like bright rooms and that makes me happy too. My dream house is somewhere near the ocean or a lake, just somewhere peaceful and where the air is blowing lightly all the time. Even on top of a hill is nice. but it gets more expensive when the area is more like that. So thrid one is il settle with an area in between the city and countryside. I would like to get the best of both worlds. The peace and quite that countryside offers then a chance to just go to the city anytime i want to.:)

When i moved to the countryside i hated it from day 1. my cat was killed by a farmer on day 1 which and probably didn't help, nothing to do no shops no buses and no friends. I was just passing time i love being in town and quiet is so not me, my mum lives in the countryside and loves it, but i get bored after a few hours and can't wait to get back to my house noisy but full of life!

breathtaking views from the windows of my home will be of the utmost importance.but i'll not prefer to have my new home where the accessibility will be a problem.

Location is a huge deal for me, I want quiet and I don't want nosey neighbors. I don't like to be surrounded by massive amounts of people either. Where I live and where I go to play are 2 different things. The next thing is condition of the house, price and loan terms. What would the resale value be? All of these I have to consider since I am military and we never know when we will have to pack up and move.

I would say lots of light and fresh air, and a clean bathroom and big kitchen are important to me! I am in the process of finding a home and thesem particularly light and air, are becoming difficult to come by in this age of cramped apartments and congested neighborhoods.
