I am also a beggining knitster, although I love to watch "Knitty Gritty" on HGTV. I have taken a big leap though and knit a sweater for my son. It's not too bad for the first one.

I love my crafts... they keep me sane! I sew, quilt, knit, crochet, cross stitch, and embroider. I was a bridal seamstress for many years, and that led to ribbon embroidery.
I do polymer clay, plastic canvas, scrapbooking, altered books, bind books, make animated cards and cut stencils. I will soon be doing precious metal clay jewelry with my friend.
If its out there I've done it... I've spent too much of my life with too much time on my hands!LOL! I am working on a card/book/journal inventory to start my etsy shop... I am working with copyright-free art now to cut down my design time.
I even love talking about crafting! What are you working on now??

Wow I am impressed. I love to cross stitch and embroider as well. I come from a family whose women are very good seamstresses. My mother has a side business where she does formal wear and wedding dresses. I am not that good of a seamstress but am still learning and love it. I am new to scrapbooking as well as quilting although I am taking classes for the later. My mom and sister are teaching me beading. My sister is very much into the lampwork beads and working with metals.
My current project include macking a crochet /rag throw, cross stitching a big fish themed wall hanging, cross stitching Christmas ornaments and trying to finish the two scrapbooks I have started. All of these plus more that I haven't started yet will be Christmas gifts.
You had mentioned opening a shop, where will it be located?

It will be on etsy.com... I have the storefront, but its still empty... I'm hoping to have some items in before Christmas, but so many other commitments keep getting in the way!
I am making pop-up reindeer cards for Christmas, I'm almost ready to bind an old-time black-paged photo album for my sister's birthday, I have cut the stencils for my holiday table linens and now need a few hours to paint them... its never-ending!
I also make jewelry with my BFF... whenever we can get together. Silver clay, silver wire... we're not brave enough to make our own bead... YET! My sis order semi-precious stones in bulk, and I'm working out 'rustic' ring mountings for those. If I didn't have all these things to look forward to, I believe I'd just vegetate... sometimes my mind is going so much I can't sleep! I love it!
