What are your happiest childhood memories?
I do not have any happy childhood memories. The closest I can come to one is sitting, hiding in a corner of the garden, pretending I am queen, and the daisies and buttercups are my loyal subjects who adore me - while at the same time hoping my oldest sister, who had the job of looking after me, didn't find me and resume torturing me or locking me in the coal shed.
Share your happy memories.

I'm so sorry for the years of abuse you suffered, but also very grateful you've ended up having such a wonderful life with your own family.
My happiest childhood memories are the times our family did things together. We were always having big family gatherings and we were all close to each other. Mom and Dad would take us to the park to feed pigeons or to the beach to swim on Saturdays. We always went to church together on Sunday. I can remember my sister and I going shopping with our grandmother. She would let us pick out what material and patterns we liked and she or our mom would sew our clothes. We had some very nice clothes and were very well dressed. Those of us still living in this area get together whenever we can. My daughter and 2 granddaughters are coming down from NY for Christmas, so my cousin told us at Thanksgiving that we all had to come to her house after Christmas so everyone could get together while they were here. The only relatives who are upset are the ones who live out of state and can't get here for the party. It was fun to grow up in our family, and still is.

Thanks for sharing that, Claudia. In this day and age, it is wonderful to see close knit families. I trust you have a very happy family gathering at Christmas. My youngest son will be coming to Australia (He lives in England)and bringing his girl friend, for Christmas, and three of my other sons and their families will be with us too. Only one son and his family will be missing. It will be wonderful to have most of us together.
Have a very happy Christmas!

I love watching clouds too, Gabs. They are amazing and a constant reminder of our great Creator God. However, that isn't the reason for my myLot name. I watch the clouds for the return of my Lord. Even so come quickly!

Well, I remember as a child we would go to my grandparents property on a river. There we would camp and go swimming and tube down the river with our cousins. My Grandpa is a retired baptist preacher and he would talk you ear off, my grandmother was quiet and reserved, but when she spoke, everyone listened. I remember my grandfather takign us through the woods telling us a scary story, and our uncles jumping out at us. These are some of my most precious memories, when we got away from the pressures of our life and the dissapointment that overwhelmed us there, and sat peacefully with our extended family and were allowed to be kids. Good topic!

I don't have a lot of happy childhood memories either.. But I do have one that stays with me to this very day..
The happy childhood memories I had, they almost all involve Saskatchewan, the province I used to live in when I was younger. I cannot think of that place without reminiscing over things I did as a young girl. I can still remember how beautiful the area that we lived in was. I could go on and on about watching the sun set on the beach and how much fun I had as a child there just playing and always finding different things to do with my time.
I have since always wanted to go back there and visit the old house I grew up in and to see my old school. Those places always make me feel at ease and make me feel good because I had so many good times there. I used to remember going to my Mom's old restaurant she owned there and having her cook me something. She was a great cook.
I remember spending days and days outside enjoying my time in the outdoors when I used to live there. Life was so much simpler back then... I find myself remembering my time spent during those years as being so great because life wasn't as complicated as it is nowadays. Everything is so rush, rush now that I wish from time to time that I could just go back and live that life again. There's even times I wish we had never moved out of that town in the first place. We had a beach right below our house & I used to remember lots of times that I would spend there.
I totally remember the times that I used to go on the neighbors lawn next door to us.. With my sister and we would pretend we were figure skaters like Kurt Browning. It's one of my favorite memories. Other times me and my sister would go down to the lake on Canada Day and blow up balloons and let them go in the water. I remember me and my old puppy Sparky would run around as well pretending we were on a scavenger hunt sometimes....The memories from time to time will come flooding back and they'll make me smile.
So, in conclusion, I find my most favorite childhood memories involve when I lived in Saskatchewan. I get upset when people make fun of that province because for me, there's so much to do and see. I think it's the best place on earth to raise a family and I hope one day to go back and possibly live there for the rest of my life. I guess one can always dream right?

My happiest memory of my childhood is lying in my grandfathers arms as he rocked me and would sing to me to put me to sleep. He was very special to me and even after all of these years I still miss him and can still hear him singing to me.

I'm happy you get along well with your mum. It is difficult to understand why some things happen, but at least you have happy times to remember and you are not holding grudges for bad times. God bless you.

You are little bit unlucky that you have no good childhood memories. I have wonderfull memories of my childhood. In the winter season playing with snow, making the snow balls, making the snow man, Ice skating etc. Other then winter we have wrap fruits from the orchards when return from school. We have lot of village level games with friends. There are numbers of memories which cannot explain each and every thing here. But those were wonderful days which will never come again.

When i was in seventh standard, that day was our school anniversary day, we have to play a drama, in that i played a role of husbend for a girl who was my classmate. All my mates are teased me regarding this matter, then i told to our master that i dont like to act with that girl and requested to change wife character girl, my master scolded me seriously and said that she is not your real wife dont worry and carry on ( that time she was not that much good looking ) , drama was finished and our school days too passed away. after 16 years later she became my wife.

My happiest memories are of riding my bike and playing with my dolls. I use to line them all up and pretend I was the teacher and they were my students. I also remember putting makeup on them with watercolors and cutting their hair (I thought it would grow back.)

I am lucky and have many fond childhood memories. I think part of it is the frame of mind. Even in the darkest of situations if you look for the light things can at least be bearable. It is the same with people, try to look for the good, it will make life more enjoyable.

I am happy for you that you have happy memories. I agree with you that frame of mind is very important, but when there is NOT EVEN ONE happy memory in childhood, it is impossible AT THE TIME to find something "light". However, as time goes on, attitude CAN make a difference, and what happened as a child does not have to hold negative responses. I can NOW be thankful for everything "bad" in my life.
I also agree with you that good can be seen in anyone, and we should always look for that good.
