Im sure majority of you guys came to know about the issue of Pope Benedict's comment on Islam. Im a Roman Catholic and our community here in Vienna are so concerned about the possible consequences of this misundertanding which i believe is still existing despite the Pope's visit in Turkey recently.
Although Im a Christian, I was very much alarmed after I heard the Pope's comments on Islam. I respect Islam in the same way that I respect my own religeon. I have vey close muslim friends from Turkey and I do not want to say any negative comments because i believe in equality and freedom of religeon.
Do you guys believe that the Pope committed a mistake in saying his comments about Islam in Public? What do u think are the possible implications and consequences?

Pope Benedict did not attack Islam: it's been a big misunderstanding! The Pope cited a Byzantine emperor's sentence, saying it was astoundingly and surprisingly harsh, and newspapers reported that sentence as if it was the Pope sentence.
This misunderstanding is already on Wikipedia:

no i dont think pope benedict accused or maliciously attacked the islamic community , i just think the emdia has taken this out of focus as susal , and turned it into a political circus once again , i think people ned to see all the factsand determine a reason in ther own mind and not follow rest of sheep.
