I also currently take Ativan for my severe anxiety as well as for panic attacks. It does work well for me - and I have been taking it for years now. I haven't found myself addicted to it - as there are days where I don't take as much if I feel like things are going ok for me during that day - but I tend to think that there probably are those who could become addicted to it - I think a lot of becoming addicted to things depends on whether your parents were addicts of any sort but then there are also other issues that tend to make us all addicted to things. I would definitely talk to your doctor about this - as in how long you have been taking it - how much you take daily - whether you have ever had to up your dose and things like that.

I've been taking it for a while and I have no problem going off of it for months at a time. I think that as long as you use your prescriptions the way you are supposed to that you will not become dependent. Ativan is just to be "use as needed" in my case, however if you had to take it regularly it could probably build an addiction.

You could very well be addicted. I have been taken Ativan for 2yrs now I take 1mg 3times a day or as needed. And when I don't have it everyone can tell... I can't sleep, and everything. So just be careful while taking it and if you think you want off of it have your Dr take you off slowly...
