Do you ever just read discussions?

Do you ever find yourself more content reading discussions and not responding?
Or do you always respond to discussions if you open them?
I guess it depends on what type of mood I'm in, because I sometimes find myself just opening discussions and reading them but not responding when I realize I can't add much to the conversation.
It would be great if myLot added a "viewed" counter to discussions so that we could also see how many times a discussion has been viewed (regardless of how many responses it has received).

That's a good idea about the counter. :)
To answer, yes I do sometimes just read them and not respond. Just because I find it interesting and have nothing to say sometimes or someone already said what I was going to say. Other times I don't respond because my response I would have wouldn't be so nice lol.

The last couple days, I have found myself doing that more and more. The counter would be nice, but maybe some consideration in the earnings calculations would be good too. Not sure how complicated they want to make it or are willing to make it, but possibly crediting for starting an often viewed conversation and/or visiting a lot of conversations would be nice too.

I agree. This is a wonderful discussion and a nice idea about the counter for each discussion as well as the thought about earnings credit for being on mylot and reading others comments.
I myself have found sometimes I have nothing new of value to add. Also, some discussions seem to take on such a life of their own, I do not want to read all 100 posts before responding. So, sometimes I read 20 or 30 and move on to something else.

I do it sometimes. I read a discussion because it interests me. Sometimes there just isnt anything to add that hasnt already been said and since we are expected to give quality responses I then deside to not responde anything...

I rarely read a discussion and not leave a response to what I have read. Sometimes after reading the entire discussion I cannot come up with an intelligent response. But, that is the only time I can say that I do not leave a response.

I quite often open a discussion and just read it but not respond.Sometimes the question has been answered several times and there is really nothing more I can add.Or in some cases it is a topic I have no knowledge of and I am just reading it to learn more information, there's no point responding to something you don't know about.Having a "viewed" counter on the discussion is a great idea,it would be interesting to see how many times a discussion has been viewed compared to the amount of posts.

I will open a discussion and read it. If I am not familiar with what they are talking about then I will close it and find another topic that I can share my opinion on. I think that it would be great to have a viewed counter to see how many people looked at the discussion. You should make that suggestion and see what they say.

Actually, I often open them and find myself content just reading. If I do not feel that I can add much, I will move one. But there are times when I have thoughts about it and see that someone else had already did a wonderful job of wording it. So, occasionally, I will comment to the person letting the person know I read their response and what I thought. I think it is a great way to reinforce others. :) We all need encouragement and a nice pat on the back sometime.

Thanks Brokentia, I agree. I think commenting on other's comments is a good way to reinforce the community here.

Yah sometimes I just read them and am not in the mood to reply or don't have enough to say or have TOO much to say and don't know where to start.:D Also, I hardly get any responses to my discussion and I really wish I got more... at least to my post about my bf leaving for the army. *sigh* Oh well I guess!

great idea about the 'viewed' counter. I sometimes just read, sometimes I'm just not in the mood for responding, sometimes it's that I have nothing to add. Sometimes I just need a laugh and I find a lot of the writings here amusing.

I've found myself doing that many times, especially on some of the long ones. By the time I'm through reading all of the responses and comments, at times I'm either too tired or not in the mood to respond myself. Other times, I've commented on other responses or comments, then forgotten to do a response. Sometimes every single thing I would have said has already been said, so I just don't add any response.

i find myself spending more time reading than posting, especially when the discussion is very interesting. sadly i can hardly add another post since most of the things i'd like to say have been mentioned, hehe. but it's fun just reading sometimes, just not fun that reading doesn't make us earn :)

Yes, I do that sometimes too. Especially if it's a discussion with *alot* of responses. I feel like I would end up repeating something that's already been said. The counter is an interesting idea?

nice idea. i try to respond to every discussion especially if the person who started the discussion has a small number of responses. this encourage the new comers and help mylot.com alot.

yes, dont worry your not alone. sometimes i amuse myself watching (or should i say reading) other people's differing opinions on certain topics. and when i feel that i dont have anything more to add, if its already said or if i feel that im not well informed on the matter, i will not join in the discussion.
