I've been wondering..

I noticed..
That the best discussions on my lot hardly ever get replies.
I think its terrible that members complain about the spam and stuff,
And whenever they come across a discussion that they encourage people to post,
They ignore it??
I have one friend on here (Who shall remain nameless) who constantly spams..
And always gets replies for asking questions you lot seem to object against posting in..
So why do you do it!?!
I have friends with amazing discussions and I try to reply to them..
Most of them, I have replied to.
But trying to find them all amongst the spam is impossible.
I think the reason most of you don't reply to them,
Is because there longer than the spam, and it would take you more time to read.. and more effort and typing to reply to.
I'm unsure, but I'm guessing so.
Well I just want to say those that complain and ignore what you've asked for..
Your just as big of a spammer as the people you complain about.
And don't get me wrong..
I do too,
But when I come across a good discussion,
I will post in it rather than a spam.
Thanks to all who take notes and who do post in good discussions.
Its really nice..
Why should we give the spammers money and let the amazing posters lose out?

Questions about food, drinks, colors, etc. get a lot of people responding, so this keeps them at the top of the popular discussions.
Discussions on more serious topics (like most of mine) tend to get little attention, even after days. Since they don't get comments, they get buried under all the popular topics.
I try to do searches on a topic to find some older, less noticed discussions. Also I go to 'new discussions' to see what's just been posted, before it has the chance to sink to the bottom of the pile.

First off--you are seeing your earning for the day before yesterday, not yesterday. Get it?
Secondly-Alot of times people post a discussion on a topic of interest to them and there is already a topic like that. That dosen't mean the yare copying your ideas, they just didn't do a search of the topic beforehand. Take it as a compliment, great minds think alike.

yes sometimes if you posts on a discussion you could be considered as a spammer and i exccept that because what im posting is answering people who hasn't started well with a question. Most people has one word answer and thats not good enough. This is also not how to earn money because mylot has changed the earning system already. You do get paid better if you post longer discussion. If you are a spammer you won't get much, and make sure you tell your friend that. Good luck

Hopefully since MyLot has put some new guidelines about spammers, those pwople will be slowly moved out. I search through by my interests or go to my friends and answer there discussions.I have to say that I've noticed that some thought provoking discussions have made it to the hot topics,so hopefully MyLot guidelines are working a little.

I post first to all of my friends posts. I have a short list of friends and i keep it that way. When I have finished with that and still feel like being on here I roam my friend's friends and post on there.... then when all else fails I will go to the spam. However, when I am on the spam I post very lengthy answers and not just one word answers. It is rare I go through the spam.

Thank you for responding and being a good member.
My post patterns are very like yours.
I usually do my friends but I've got a few with random spam for posts and I hate it..
But thats life...
Not everyone will listen to you..

its true.usually you ask a serious question, they are longer than the normal once, members think the long question takes much of their time, but they get paid a little money, so they always wouldt answer the question

Hey there priceless, I am new to this been up a week today and must agree it is hard to find decent discussions in all the other stuff you have to wade through to get there. So tell me how well did you do for your 370 posts the other day when you were off sick?

I'd suggest using the search to look for topics you're interested in or are knowledgeable about. Otherwise you just have to keep wading through screen after screen of nonsense.
If I find a discussion I like, I visit that person's profile and check out their other stuff. If it's good, I'll add them as a friend, and sign up to get notified when they post something new. And I visit their previous stuff to read and rate it. Once you get a bunch of friends there'll be a steady stream of new stuff for you to read, and with any luck they'll read your things too.

Hey yes2day.
I know how you feel about being enable to find good things to post in.
Mylot has become so over flooded with spam now,
Its kind of impossible.
Now going of topic.
For my 370 posts I got $5.48.
Thats loads I think.
I now have $13.92,
And its all down to trying to post good replies and discussions and avoiding spam.

yes i have to agree with you, i noticed that as well.. and i think that people dont care about real situations but instead care about silly things.. i think that we shouldn't reply to silly topics and just leave them, or report them as they sent an alert saying that they can now..

I agree with you. All the stupid, pointless posts seem to get all the replies. And when you try to make a decent post, no one answers. And yes some people are just encouraging the terrible posts, by answering them. I try to find some that are interesting, and ones that I can actually respond to.

I have only been here at mylot a short time, when I first arrived and looked over the site, I thought my lord! Then I started looking back through the pages finding thoughtful postings and topics so I decided to join up, feeling I had something to contribute for those posters.
I figured that if enough people were posting real topics with real responses the spammers would either get the idea or leave.
It appears mylot admin did a nice job of clearing out at least the most obvious of those and I still find I have to scroll through the pages to find topic inwhich I may have something to offer.
I have since discovered how to navigate the site a bit better, reducing my search time and increasing my posting or reply time.
I am more of a reply type person than a topic starter. So you won't find many started by me, but I will reply to anything I feel I can make a positive contribution to.

The good one's are not going to be the most popular one's. It is easier for most people to answer the simple questions about food and drinks then to answer questions about relationships or to share their views on politics. Those of us that can discuss those types of things are being rewarded for it. I make it a point to go and look at what discussions my friends have started and if it received little or no replies and I have something to offer to the discussion I will respond. This pushes it back to the top and increases the chances of others seeing it and responding also. It also helps to comment on replies to your own discussions as that will push your own discussions near the top as well.
I have noticed that since the clean up last week that finding the better discussions is much easier now. If we all keep looking for them, we will find even more.

Hey, Priceless! I agree. One thing that really irks me is when I post and the response is I don't know anything about it. Then why respond? Or people who keep asking the same questions over and over that have been answered by MyLot policies. Some people say they just respond to whatever they see. I can't do that. It takes me longer to find topics that I think are worth my time and effort to reply to. I also agree that it takes a long time to find the posts that are worth replying to because they are buried under so many ridiculous posts. Oh well.... preaching to the choir! Post on, buddy! :-)

wee, u did get lots of responses for this discussion, and we all know about this spamming issue, i try not to spam, maybe when i first started here but not anymore, anyway, do u want mylot to turn into one of those really strict sites, where if u spam just once u get banned or they just stop giving u money for ur discussions. this is a great site and i u get to talk about anything u want here, and read people's views on ur thoughts. i agree there are plenty of stupid discussions, ive added a few myself (my first days though, not anymore) anyway, look how many people here actually read someone elses answers to a discussion, not even the person who posted the discussion reads them, i think a small % actually do, i try to read them all and answer to them. most people however im sure just see the question, answer and go back to answer another one. specially if u have long answers like this one. if anyone here actually read to other people's discussions, U want me to prove this to u. Everyone posting an answer to this discussion post a comment under my answer to this discussion. see how many people actually post a comment to my answer in ur discussion and u see what i mean. u can calculate the percentage with this on how many actually read someone elses answer. if someone else read this its maybe because they felt curious and read this long answer. I like mylot and their guidelines. dont care for spammers, and i hope this site doesnt become one of those really strict forums.

I don't want it to be strict.
But something should be done about people who just spam.
I mean,
Once in a while I wana be a little bit informal on here and do a couple of lines instead of the length of my usual posts,
And I believe thats okay.
Its great that people won't be doing it as much.
Be not if all you post is coke vs diet coke
Fizzy orange vs pure etc etc,
And too many people have got into the habit of doing that now and it has to stop before it drives traffic and members and earnings away

Yes but its now that I've got this much,
I have stopped.
I've came to my senses and posted correctly.
And yes...
I used to..
But I got help and I manged to stop it all together
I can't really talk about it in case I get an urge to do it again.
But it can hurt.
But my cuts are mostly away exept for on or two but they'll be gone in a few days

i know, but im not in favour or against them, dont we all spam anyway? i posted some really stupid discussions here. You've just got to ur first 1000, and what type of car do u drive? by the way how long did ur other discussion get? we all spam, at least once. just ignore the spammers.
(just out of curiosity do u really slit ur wrists, does it hurt?)

Best discussions aren't really the best.. the more general one's get more attention because almost anyone of us can actually relate to the topic.. i really can't say nothing to spammers they are just doing their task the easier way.. after all it's not our problem.

Well, you certainly got some response to this one lol.
I only joined this site recently and after reading the site terms I thought this could be a good way to get in touch with people with similar interests and thoughts, or not, and rather than sitting here vegatating could keep the old grey matter active. I was very disappointed, very quickly, almost, but not quite, losing the will to live because of the spam and the poor level of topic for discussion.
As I write this now I look at one of todays top users and know for a fact that they are posting one word or very short sentence responses, been on this site for not much longer than me and have almost 10,000. We can all do that but if mylot continue to pay for those types of response then they will very soon be out of business.

I agree!
I and I know who your talking about lol!
Hee hee I just wana make it clear that I am losing the will to live over it etheir ha haha ha.
But it annoys me cos You come on here to earn some money and you can't find anything worth your time to post in.
And when you do, You and one or two others are the only ones to post in it.

You mean we get paid for this?!?! hehehe. I wish I was getting as much for my intellectual input as the spammers were getting paid for their lack of it. At least when I do post I can sleep well knowing that I'm doing my best to keep within the rules of the game, and I'm sure my parents would be proud of me for maintaining my morals and standards.
Here's to the written word, be it in ink or electronic.

The problem is that the SAME discussions stay on the front page ALL DAY. When I first joined, there would NEVER be the same discussions on the front page, they were constantly shifted around. Now, you have to go through page after page to find a new post.
