I was watching the ellen show the other day and someone was on there and said that 80% of americans will be in debt their whole lives and the worst thing to do when youre in debt, is try to get out of it, because you will get yourself into more debt.
Im not sure what that means exactly, I think you should just take it one day at a time.. I was really stressing about my bills until I heard that.

That's sorta what we have been doing for the last year and have brought down the bills quite a lot, I guess it just seems like I will be like this forever....

Yes, I saw that episode of Ellen too. In fact the movie had been brought to my attention before. More than ever I want to see The Secret. I can only find the book (and I have enough books to read!). The idea was if you think you will be in debt forever, you will be. But think positively and abundance will come to you. Hard to believe though. We have been drowning in debt for 10 years since I became disabled. It really sucks! Gotta find that DVD.

I have been disabled for the last two years because of my back.
Lost my job and cannot do that line of work anymore. SO, they tell me.
I have half the money I used to get and used my credit cards to fill up the wholes.
Know I can no longer payoff my credit cards. I really like the Secret. http://thesecret.tv
They have beautiful free gifts and that has helped me a lot.
But, even though I am trying to think positive, I am still in big trouble. Why?

I'm, in debt too - I was about $4000 in (no much considering other peoples debts) but I had no income when I had accumulated them. I now have most of it paid off. Its down to $1370 now, and thats dropping fast now. the trick was to wait untill I could afford to pay it before I tried to, otherwise I was broke again, and thast got me nowhere becaue I had to reborrow. take it slow, and pay what you can and it will all disapear eventually.

I think you are right. Because I keep trying to pay the money to the credit cards, we don't have enough during the month. Then we end of lending it from somewhere else.
You have to pay that back too.
Problem is the interest they put on the card , it is terrible!

Well you're certainly not alone. I'm not in debt as of right now but I'm also not attending university at the moment and don't really have payments to make on things. Once I buy my own house and start going to university I will be in major debt. Just remember, there is someone out there who has it worse than you do, I wish you luck, you'll be OK :)

Thanks... But I'm a weird person, if I knew someone in worse trouble than me I'd try and help them, then end up worse myself! haha... I'm hopeless!!!

I feel like giving up too. I pay my bills every month and try to pay as much over the minimum as possible. Then I have a friend who doesn't even pay a dime to any of her cc's. I wonder if people like her would pay..Would our sky high interest rates go down? It's hard to be motivated when I keep paying and the balance barely changes.

yes I am in debt. I am trying to get out of it though. It is very hard. My credit card keeps raising the interest rate. The more i pay the more i owe. it is a vicious cycle
