The fields are studded with gigantic clamshells measuring up to a meter wide. The island has several white sand beaches sprinkled with exotic shells newly washed up from the seabed. Facing an open sea, the white sand beach, cool pristine waters and exotic rock formations of Higatangan Island is itself nature at its best. *Homonhon Island* Tiny island where Ferdinand Magellan and his men first set foot on Philippine soil on March 16,1521; viewing of the historic Magellan plaque / marker. *Gen. Douglas Mac Arthur Landing Memorial* Monument marking the spot where General MacArthur landed with the Liberation Forces; lagoon where the statues of the liberators stand 1.5 times bigger than life-size, beautiful beach; Leyte Gulf and Samar Island; 50th Leyte Landing Anniversary Commemorative Rock Garden of Peace. *Biri Rock Island* This island town is blessed with unique natural beauty. Biri, known for its awe-inspiring rock formations carved due to big waves of the San Bernardo Strait that lap up the eastern portion of its shore. *Sohoton Natural Bridge National Park* An astonishing forty meters high stone bridge that connects two mountain ridges, is another sight to behold inside the Sohoton Natural Park, and the river passing thru it is approximately 20 meters wide. *Limasawa Island* Site of the celebration of the First Christian Mass in the Orient when Ferdinand Magellan came in 1521; historical and cultural viewing of the Magellan Shrine/Marker. It is also a diver’s paradise. It boasts of magnificent walls and sheer drop-offs decorated with a variety of lovely fan corals which never fails to awe even the most traveled and experienced diver. *Calbayog (St’s. Peter and Paul) Cathedral* Its tell-tale dome, spire and thick walls reveal the blending of Spanish and modern architectural designs. *Maasin Cathedral* Image and "Santos" whose art and architecture dates back to the Spanish era are still found in its altar and ceilings. *Lake Danao* A violin-shaped lake 2,100 feet above sea level and 3 kms. long; hemmed by cloud-capped mountain ranges of undetermined depth; wild animals roaming its surrounding forest; hunter’s paradise; lake said to be the habitat of giant eel. *San Juanico Strait* Said to be the narrowest yet the most navigable strait in the world. Beautiful islets and infinite whirlpools; rushing water scene; good for fishing and water skiing. *San Juanico Bridge* Crossing over the San Juanico Strait, it connects Barangay Cabalawan, Tacloban City on the Leyte side and Sta. Rita town on the Samar side. San Juanico Bridge is the longest and most beautifully designed bridge in the Philippines. It offers many picturesque views, especially of the San Juanico Strait with its thousand whirlpools as well as the lovely islets of the province. It is approximately 10 minutes from Tacloban City and is accessible by passenger jeepney, bus, motorcab or private vehicle. The bridge forms the shapes of the letters S for Samar and L for Leyte.
