Fishing was an obsession of mine when I was younger but I don't have much time anymore. I enjoy all types of fishing whether it is fresh or salt water. My latest fishing trip was two weeks ago in which I was in the Dominican Republic. My buddies and I caught a marlin. Wow, what a rush and it was my first. Though it was small as far as marlin standards go, it was nearly 200 pounds and 7 1/2 feet in length. My friends and I took turns bringing it in and it took almost 1 1/2 hours to bring in the boat.

wow. congratulations! you know, marlin fishing is one of my dreams, and i would probably die happy if ever i catch one marlin, just one.in the philippines, there are only a few areas where marlin can be caught, and my place is not one of them. also i don't have the means to go deepsea/offshore fishing for marlin. best i can make is inshore, but i compensate by using thin lines (4-12 lbs)so as to give the fish some sporting chance. largest fish i caught was a 20-lb one similar to hawaiian opakapaka on a 70-lb leader with 300-lb mainline.that was when we fished for money. hopem i get a marlin someday.
