No, I don't believe that money can buy happiness. It can make life easier like other posts said. However, too much money can cause problems too. My uncle had a cousin who won the lotto. He had to move far away because of everyone wanting a bit of his money. I guess relatives he didn't know he had, came out of the woodwork. Statistics on lottery winners don't paint a very good picture either. So quick money apparently doesn't make one happy as a rule. It seems like the saying time is money is true around here. If hubby works enough that we have plenty for our needs, then we don't have hubby. If he works less, we have hubby and much less money. I am happiest with the whole family together. I wish we could live a simpler life and not need as much money. That would make me happier but hubby wants things to stay the same.

MOney cannot buy all the happiness. But, money can buy some kind of happiness definitely. You gave a very nice example of your cousin who won the lotto and the problems he faced just for winning the lotto is too much. This may be the case of instant cash or fast money, but even if it is a long term money also, more money will bring tensions with it...isn't it?

having more money might not means that one will be happier. i earned 5 times more now compare to when i first started working, but at the same time, my expenses went up as well. sometimes, i wish i could be contented being in a low paying job and not having so much worry about bills, bills and bills.

I don't recall the movie, but there was a great little sequence in which someone said to the materialistic girl that money doesn't buy happiness, and she responded, "Yes, but it doesn't automatically depress me either!"
Although it's a silly reference to make, that's the way I think about it. Money is not the key to happiness, but it is certainly not the key to sadness either. It's more about your approach to life. Money is a tool. Happiness comes from within.

Maybe you have really got some more points here...thank you.It really feels nice to participate in nice discussions isn't it? we get to know so many valid points which each one will be producing on their thinking.I definitely agree to your views here that money is just a tool and it is more about how you approach life and you also seem to agree on my point of view that money cannot be the only source for happiness...

This is a very subjective question. I can't say more money more happy, less money less happy. No doubt, if you have more money, you can do almost anything and that will make you satisfy with your self. So, indirectly, if you have more money you might be happy.
Now let see, if you have more money, you might affraid that someone will steal it from you or kidnap you for a hugh ransom. So, in this situation money does not mean you will be happy, infact you will be scared.
Let see the less money situation. Without money, you won't be able to buy yourself satisfaction. Let say, you have a big family and you intend to buy a MPV, but since your financial is not strong enough, you only can get yourself a mini. You won't be happy about that.
But without money, you won't be afraid to walk in the public knowing that nobody will kidnap you. Haha..
But anyway, it's up to you. If you feel money is important, then it will be important.

H....Ha....nice to see so much on your views...interesting to go through that in detail. But, money is important for anybody living on earth...atleast for the basic needs, he needs money and everybody wants more...more...and even more...but, if he really gets sometthing very big....the, i think some sort of restlessness will start as to security wise, investment wise.....as all sorts of people also tend to follow you...isn't it.

Of course money can do tremendous things. It can accelerate the happiness we are having. But money alone cannot give happiness. money + the ability to enjoy the happiness makes people more happy. All rich people are not happy. All poor people are not unhappy.

Money alone cannot bring happiness and i would just like to add one point over here, which is my view....
More money, beyond limits is not at all good according to me as it might bring more tensions and other forms of uneasiness along withh it...what do you say for this ?

Money can buy you something but not everything and with little more money you might feel happy but money definitely cannot buy all the happiness in the world and if money was everything in this life, rich people would always have been happy without knowing the meaning of sadness, isn't it?

Well, for me the answer is yes. I think not all will same with my opinion so here is. with money I think i can be more happy, I can make my family or myself happy with using that money. of course you can't buy all with money but money is strong enough to make you happy in your life. also you can make other people happy with that money. Not all rich people are more happier that poor people, It's deppend on situation. some of rich people want to be poor and some poor people want to be rich.

I think if we have enough money for the basics and mayby a little left over to have a bit of a life then beyond that money probably makes more problems then its worth, even people with tons of money end up in debt because it seems as you make more money you increase your standard of living as well and you still spend just a little more than you have and it just becomes a cycyle. I always told my husband that id like to have enough money so when i went into the grocery store i didnt have to check the account to make sure i could get everything i needed food wise and id be happy, i dont mind if i have to take a look before i go shoe shopping and mayby have to wait for something but the comfort of just going to the grocery store and getting all we need is nice. Money is certainly not the ultimate problem solver some people seem to think that it is. Of course its sad when people dont have enough for the basics.

Hm.....good.It seems ok on all aspects. As the money increase, you also tend to spend more...isn't it? it is the case of every human being and as you said, it is not actually buying happiness with more money, but you tend to spend little more with more money...that's all...isn't it? but, money is needed for anyone...what i am telling is, beyond limits, even money is very bad....do you also agree with this?

More money doesn't alway's mean more happiness.....perhaps, you might feel more secure. But, even then, to be more happy, you need something more than money for sure....isn't it? don't you agree with me? even the richest person can be unhappy with more money also....isn't it?

Money is needed even if you are alone.....but, i couldnot understand your point saying that money doesn't brink happiness being alone...! what you meant here? being alone means, single is it? if money is spent on things what you like, you should be happy...why not?

I do not think so...you cannot be moe happy with more money.. if moe money comes to you you will be more tempted to earn more then what you have got... so I would say you will be in a never ending journey for the quest of money.I would also say that money can buy you bad but not sleep...money can buy you food but not hunger

Personally, I dont think that money can always bring happiness. It could be that the level of satisfaction for both poor and rich people is not the same but the effect happiness brought about by achieving such satisfaction is pretty much the same on both classes.

I agree that money cannot alway's bring happiness as you said, but what did you mean by level of satisfaction for rich and poor? ddi you mean that , more money more satisfaction? if it is so, i don't think you are right as needs of rich people might be higher than the poor isn't it..so, level of satisfaction maynot be high compared to the poor........but, desires will be high on both rich and poor people...isn't it?

With more money I think that a person could be happier to an extent, they could pay off debts, take a trip, work less hours or even quit a job that they hate. However, money doesn't totally buy happiness, it doesn't buy love which brings us great joy.

Happiness can't be bought with money but it sure can make your life a little 'easier'.
A friend a me owns an online investment program, feel free to have a look at it, he's a really honest person! It's definitely not a scam!!! There hasn't been a single complaint from any member until now and it's online for over half a year already....This one is my life making a bit easier ;-))
