Married against my parents wish

Here is my story: three yaers ago I met someone that I liked, but for start I knew that my parents would not like him and don't agree with him because he is 13 years older than me. Though, I started to date him and after one year we decide to get married. My parents were so upset, my father didn't speak to me... It was very hard. But we planed the weding anyway, so they had nothing to do. I am very happy, but I know that my parents will always be upset for my decision. Do you think I was wrong to get married without their aprovement?
