It is better to work in day shift. God has made night to take rest for all. When we work in night, we do not feel easy in the day time, though we take sleep in day but it is not sufficient. Rest at night is more important. so try to work in day shift. I do so. I hate night shift. I have done education in such a way. When I was studying, my elder brother used to go in night shift, at that time I had decided to study in such a way that i get job of day time working only.

As far as working schedule is concerned it totally depends on the life style of the person.

As far as health is concern day shift is best because if you don't get proper sleep at night your body doesn't feel fresh and you feel little weak..

generally speaking, our physiolology is atuned in such a manner that we are more comfortable working during day and sleeping at night. its more matter of habit, convention and our metabolism is guided by this largely.
but it has been seen, tho' with initial discomfort and sickness due to working night shifts against our biologcal clock, we get used to night shifts. ppl working in call centres, call for this and we have to adjust according to the geographical clock of the country.
rarely, working night shifts cud lead to sever biological and sociological imbalance. we get to socialise with our family and frnds seldom leading to solitude and acute identity crisis. however, if the job calls for huge remuneration and job satisfaction, i wud certainly go for it.

There are many factors that you have to figure in, Do you have children at home and if so, who will tend to them if you work nights? And you don't get as much sleep as you do with a day job...You have to remember, most business run on a 9 to 5 shift, so if you coming off a night shift and you want to take care of important calls, this cuts into your sleep time, if you work a day shift, you can at least make these calls while on a break. Then night shifts do tend to be slow, but where I work, they expect alot more done from the night shift, due to the fact that its slower paced, plus the time goes by slower...
Well .. I prefer day shift myself because i have the afternoon to sit around the house and help the folks out with laundry and stuff.
