No adequate arrangements are in place for the protection of the district’s important property record at the district headquarters in the DCO office.
A naib tehsildar was looking after the record in the office, but the post has been lying vacant for the last one year. While three vacant posts of patwaris have also not been filled so far. For the two posts of qanoongo, only one is working. Similarly, no one has been posted as billing clerk and two out of three naib qasids’ posts are also vacant.
Now the only qanoongo, working as an officiating in charge, often remains absent from his office as he has to attend courts at Toba, Lahore and Faisalabad.
He is also authorised to sign and attest copies of the property transfer deeds for which applicants apply in the `naqool branch’. Applicants have to wait for a number of days to get their work done due to the shortage of the record room staff. Public circles have demanded that the chief minister should direct the DCO to fill all vacant posts.
DPO: The district police officer will hold a meeting on Monday (today) at the mosque of Chak 319-GB regarding the firing case registered against 84 people of ruling party MPA Liaquat Ali Shoukat and former PPP MPA Mian Muhammad Rafiq.
Last week, supporters of newly elected UC-48 nazim Amjad Husain of Mian Rafiq group had taken out a procession to celebrate the victory at Chak 319-GB, the village of Liaquat Ali, where both the groups had a clash. As a result of which four cars and 20 motorcycles were damaged and later both the groups had got the cases registered against each other.
DPO Raja Munawwar Husain will listen to both the groups at the village mosque.
BUTCHER HELD: Some villagers beat up a butcher here on Sunday at Chak 341 GB, Nanglan for allegedly selling meat of a dead goat to them and later got him arrested.
Reports said some farmers started vomiting after taking the meat. Later, they beat up butcher Mubarik Ali and handed him over to the Chuttiana police. A case has been registered against the accused.
LIGHT RAIN: The city and surrounding villages received a light shower on Sunday evening.
