Why are sardars the centre of most Jokes

With No bad intentions towards any community.. Just why are sardars the centre of most jokes in india?

Sardar are all broad minded and Good hearted peoples they never oppose the jokes made on them instead they do enjoy the jokes and I think Laughing on own self is possible only for great hearted peoples and I salute the Punjabis for their greatness
