I received an email a couple days ago from one of my email contacts, stating that Microsoft is having a beta test for there new vista, and internet explorer programs and that anyone that receives the email that was sent to me would be put on their list and receive compensation for using the products...apparently and I believe it is true that microsoft can monitor your computer and tell what you are using for a browser, email..etc.. and this is how they know who to compensate for using the programs. Truth or fiction does anyone have an idea?

I don't believe it's actually true. If they do have things for you to try, you will definitely download them from THEIR site, so don't download from anywhere else! That's the safest bet.

From the outset of your mail, it definitely looks like a scam. Don’t go for it. Now, Microsoft Vista is the latest rage amongst the scamsters especially after microsoft started offering beta products for free to test and hence most of them think that they actually give out those for free and you can use it permanently which is not true. Actual truth is that beta testings is valid only for a specified length of period after which it will render useless. So, you need to be careful and know from which source you are receiving these invites to try out. Don’t fall into preys of scamsters.

I have received that one over and over again, for many years, one version or another. It is a scam. A good, and interesting site to visit is snopes.com. You can search on a topic and learn whether or not things are scams, or urban myths. Then you will not be quite so likely to embarrass yourself sending a fake e-mail to your entire address book.

Just another scam because someone is gathering email addresses to spam all those who are silly enough to give their email address to others ...... my partner received this one from 4 different people and of course sent them on. Then she got a blast from sister-in-law about it being spam and not to do it again and told partner to check how many email address it had already been sent to .... when partner checked she found that each of the emails had at least 200 email addresses on them .... nobody bothered to delete the previous details before forwarding it on. Sister-in-law also told my partner never to send any more of that junk to her ... and also to ask around to see who got paid ..... nobody had of course ..... so scam and get rid of it but not to other people since they might be like a very irate sister-in-law.
