It's hard to make a right decision. Usually when somebody tells me a secret, I don't tell it anyone. From other point of view, if this family member wanted his/her illness to be a secret, why he/she told me? Perhaps he wants the others to know but couldn't take heart until now to tell? I guess, I would wait a while and then speak to this family member again and ask, what does he/she think now about it...

That's a tough one. I think I would lean toward honoring the wishes of the person who trusted me with information, but if I thought the other family members had a right to know then I would try to convince the sick person to relent and let other people know.
I think that having a support system is very important when you're sick and you should allow others to help you. I would try my best to encourage the sick person to let the other family members know what's going on.

That is another sticky situation, here is the deal, if it is life threatening I would try to talk them into telling themselves, but if was a non life threatening situation then I would let them make that decision on their own.

I would keep it to myself under the condtion that they tell the family soon and not try to hide it...

That depends, if it's an illness that he/she is embarrassed of, then why make them suffer the humiliation of telling the rest of the family. If they wanted them to know they could tell the rest of the family themselves, why should I tell. Even if it's not an illness that embarrassed them it's still no one else's business unless the person sick wants them to know

I would tell the rest of my family only because they have a right to know.
