Earth's government

Earth's government in Star Trek is a dream for me. In that world, science has been given rule as the ethical right not religion, and as expected the power and strength of a scientific world in synergy has eradicated all hunger, most diseases (I believe they still get the common cold tho )and nations remain happily autonomous while holding to a globally accepted societal ethic. It is painfully evident that this, our world, is not close to that mindset in sufficient numbers required to initiate it. To do it by force adulterates the yearning for it; the above is a gentle sociology and a forced gentleness is meaningless. If and when we collectively enough approach the required mindset it will begin to manifest naturally in many ways. What we need to cultivate then is this mindset, by teaching people - our own specie whom we should naturally love as such - how to weed ones mind and find the garden. It could be an English garden, a Japanese garden, a wildflower garden - all are acceptable. Soon the lovely frame of mind arises. "Do not grow your flowers, grow your soil. The soil will grow the flowers." Which gets back to critical thinking - the mechanics of weeding. We can't presently stop a Great Event from occuring, which sadly may be coming. We can only try as always to transform what is negative into a catalyst for positive gain. All things unfortunate must not be cowered from but taken at the reins with means and motive altered. That is survival. Sabretoothed tigers are not extinct but bodily. The need for predation has evolved into a want, of beguiling and subtle complexities, in drawing rooms and by the pens of the powerful. They reign in chaos; but we must rein in the chaos they cause. Even if it's one little garden at a time. If we must live, we should make it a life worth living. We can raise no one's conscience, but we can teach one to raise their own. I believe that optimism strengthened can eventually be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Probably not in this lifetime, but in someone's. If you think it's worth it, there are gardens that need weeding. If you think it's worth it, you will find the time. If you don't, explain why.
