There are many pro's and con's to this subject. Some states are so against this method of child bearing that its outlawed. Some states do accept childbirth as a natural form and allow licensed midwives to practice.
Being a woman and a mother, I love the process of birth and pregnancy. I do not see it as a medical disaster and more of a natural process. I acknowlege there are things that go wrong and am very greatful we have the medical interventions we do.
What are your thoughts on hospital births and home births or even birthing centers? Should all women have the choice to have a c-section when its not needed?

I think homebirths are a wonderful safe option for informed mothers with low risk pregnancies. I think birthing centers are a wonderful option and wish there where more of them. I do NOT think c-sections should be a choice unless absolutly needed.

I think it should be up to the mother...whatever she wants to do as long as it isn't life threatening...
Sometimes with a normal pregnancy...something could go wrong while giving birth so no home or hospital pregnancy is 100% safe! My mom gave birth to one of my sisters at home...alone...she cut the umbilical cord herself...that is just the sacriest thing ever...which i know that in some countries this happens all the time! But I think a woman should decide what they want and how they want their baby to be born! It shouldn't be up to the government or doctors(as long as it isn't life threatening!).

Home births may be good and not everything goes right at the hospital all of the time, however, if something unexpected goes really wrong and you are at the hosptial, you might be in a better position to save your baby or yourself.

I like the idea of home births, and I know that people do it in other countries, and our ancestors did it for years, but I don't think that I would feel comfortable doing it, I need the security of having a fully trained medical staff in reach in case of an emergency. I am a scardy cat, but if someone else is comfortable with the idea and have had a heathy pregnancy and have no health risks for the mother or child than I say let them make their own decisions. As far as birthing centers I like the idea and concept as long as I have a fully trained medical staff at hand lol. I like the idea of having different techniques to try and alleviate the pain without medications.
And about choice c-sections, I dont think that women should be able to tell their dr that they want a scheduled c-section, I think that more women do this out of convenience and to choose thier child's birthday than any other reason, i dont think its right, i agree with the first person who responded that c-sections should only be done when there is a risk for the mother or child if a natural birth occurs.
