My boyfriend

My parents don't think he is "going anywhere with his life" I'm in school currently, trying to get accepted into the radiologic technician(X-Ray Tech) program. He has been saying he wants to start a business for the longest. I have known him for 3 years, and we've been together for a year and a half. I love him to death and I know he can succeed at opening his business (He wants to open a laundromat) but I just haven't seen him make any moves towards starting yet. We lived together for a while, but we were arguing way too much. I'm not sure why I'm argumentative with him sometimes, I just hate when people try to tell me things. I just want to find out for myself. I felt like he wanted to shelter me, and I want to see it for myself! I have never felt so much love coming from one person, sometimes I will be so mad at him, but a few minutes later, the argument just wasn't important enough to me for me to stay mad. I will try to make up, but he'll be really pissed and won't want me near him. One time, his aunt got involved because he was at her house when we were screaming on the phone at each other. He said he was staying there, so she called me and was trying to talk to me about what happened. I told her everything, and that I hated him, I never wanted to see him again. So then, when I told her 15 minutes later I just wanted him to come home because I wanted to make up, needless to say that she thinks I'm crazy now. I just can't ever seem to make up my mind about things. I'll feel one way one minute, and then I'll feel completely differently a while later. It scares me, to be honest. I feel like this is what being bipolar is like. I want to go see a shrink but I am almost afraid of what they will say. Needless to say, that's what he wants me to do. I think the fact that he is still by my side and supports me makes him a wonderful man, and I'm willing to go talk to somebody about my psycho tendancies. Anybody else see a shrink? What's it like? HOw do you open up to someone you don't even know? I can't imagine it!

Personally, I think you two are very different, but you know what they ... "opposites attract" and it's great that you two are working together. I've been married since I was 18 & I am 21. We have 2 kids & expecting our third.
Our relationship has it's ups & downs, especially with me being bipolar. Pregnancy (for me at least) has made my bipolar more extreme. You mentioned that you felt like you might be, so I would definately talk to a councelor. And who knows? If you are & get help it might make your relationship better too (less arguments, irriateability).

To find a counselor you have to ask around, check them out. You might have to go to a couple different ones to find one you can communicate with. They are different just like we are, of course they are trained but we need to be able to be somewhat comfortable with them to open up. I think I would try very hard to work on other things in my life to be happy with instead of this guy. I have been down this road for a very long time and it is a lonely road to fight with someone like this. I think you two are just too different to be compatible. I mean your values are too different and what I think in life you call "dealbreakers" if you are going with someone that has different core values than you, you shouldn't go with them. I have a ? for you, how do you get enrolled in the X-ray tech program? I would like to do this. Thanks

There are all the usual college core requirements to get into the X-ray tech program, (English, reading, math, etc.) Then depending on which college you choose they will have additional requirements. I know for sure you will need Anatomy & Physiology Part I and II, and medical terminology. My school also requires first aid. Most schools only start the program in the fall, so you will need to have your application in to them by February or March at the latest. I go to south suburban in Cal City, IL. I don't know where you are located at, but a good search for the program is Fastweb.com You can search for whatever type of program you might be looking for, and it helps you narrow down the college that is right for you. Good Luck!

Seeing a shrink is so great. It's a great relief and a way for people to get many things off of there mind. Also I don't think you have crazy tendencies and I would be reluctant to diagnose you as bipolar, though again I don't know enough to say. Therapy is great and it's very easy to open up to someone you don't know, you can always rejoice in the fact that they will never talk to anybody else about your thoughts. Think of them as a giant sounding board. It's a great resource. Good Luck
