I for one LOVE these books...I know of someone who will not let their child read these books because of how they involve magic. They are very Christian. I consider myself to be a Christian, but I do not see anything wrong with these books. I think they are GREAT (I am readin the last one now)and stimulate imagination. I guess I just never looked at it from another perspective. Although they books are centered around magic, I don't consider them to be evil, as in what some would call black magic, or anything else. The length of the books I also believe could encourage children to be better readers. I am an adult and the books caught me and pulled me in right from the beginning. What do you think?

I think it is ridiculous that some people consider Harry Potter to be evil. These books are fiction, completely fiction and harmless. I hate that some school have them on the banned reading lists when kids want to read these books. Reading is so important for children that when there are books like harry potter that kids long to read they need to be available! Harry Potter is a good fiction book that everyone should be allowed to read.

That's nasty. That is a good book, and there's nothing wrong with it. Why should it be banned? I dont really like Harry Potter though, but to be objective, I didnt find anything unappropriate either for children or adults in the book/movie to be read/watch. Cheers!

I used to be just like your friend. However, I have learned that there is nothing evil about these stories. If anything they teach children to be strong, stand firm in what they believe in, to have close friends. This story has so many good things to teach children, and it helps stretch the imagination. I consider myself Christian, and do not hold anything against other Christians. However, sometimes the beliefs go a little to far. Remember, the decision is ultimately yours, and you know what is right for your family.

I havent read the book, but my son and I love the movies. I myself thing they promote imagination in a childs mind which is healthy. Its like saying I'm a Christian but I wont watch a movie that speaks upon the bible. We all know that it's not real, so what's the problem. Next we'll be hanging people for being witches again.

I'm against the books myself, not from a Christian prespective, but I just think the books are mind-less garbage. I love how they get children/people to read, but I just think Harry Potter books are just however many pages of mindless walls of text.
I also don't like the fact that they are written by a santanist, but that's a whole different story. To me, Harry Potter is the equivulent of Halo in the video-game world, bad and over-rated.

I completely agree with you.I don't find anything bad in these books.Harry is a good character,he don't encourage doing bad things, and the story has a moralising idea - the good wins -.I really can't consider this books evil.We may consider this book bad for our children, but how about the cartoons they watch?Cartoons with all kinds of robots or computer games where they have to kill to go to the next level?I apreciate these books and the great talent of the writer.

I'm 25 and i LIVE for these books! The writing, characters and story lines are great. I don't see anything wrong with children reading these books or having them read to them.

i am a harry potter fan... read all the six books twice and watched the 4 parts.. am eagerly waiting for the release of the last book next year.. i don't think these books could have any negative aspect on kids.. this is so open in the theme itself.. courage and love is the 2 values the whole story is rotating upon..
