In view of the recent call by UK government to lessen world polution by spending less power, reduce burning, quit smoking and reduce in fossil fuel usage, would it be a good idea to introduce nuclear power to all nations world wide? It would reduce the world polution drastically, no?..

The problem is all of the nuclear waste. What do we do with it all if every country has some? Then there are the dangers of damage or faulty equipment and even the development of nuclear weapons by some 'mad' dictator. No I think we should find a more friendly alternative.

is it not possible to pack them up in a container and then have them sent up to the sun via a rocket?.. after all our sun is alreay bursting radiation every seconds.. if it is possible, then there is money to be made in this business in the future, if all nations decide to go nuclear..

In the past, space travel never crosses man's thought as possible. Today, we are having more and more trips made out of our planet.. I believe it is a matter of time before space travel would be as common as plane flights today. As for danger, safety precaution is the #1 issue when it comes to nuclear material, thus, I believe, enough precaution would be taken to ensure it's safety.

it is very costly to try and put such materail in space, remember nuclear waste weights alot, not only the waste itself but the container it needs to be in. The enviromental damange done in trying to send that into space (not counting the cost), your are talking either more rocket trips than mankind has currently done to date (need to rember with weights limits only a small amount per trip can be taken). And if one of the rockets was to explode before leaveing the Earth it won't be pretty.

its a nice idea in theory, but their is a large number of nations you really don't want to have nuclear power, thier are also security conscerns outside of them being able to make nukes from the waste but such power plants are terrorists targets and if one was taken out the damage to the enviroment is great.
I do belive for western nations Nuclear power is a good way to go for now but we really should be looking towards renewable non-polluting forms of energy. And if you take the middle east where it is mostly desert, it is great for solar power.

Yes, you have your points. However, you cannot deny the fact that solar energy cannot generate as much energy asn nuclear. Also, the bad point of solar energy is you need a place to store it. I do not think we have perfected the technology to preserver collected energy anyway.
btw, sorry for my late reply :p

In theory, yes. But, in reality, many nations would use it as a way to develop nuclear weapons.
A better solution would be finding an economical way of harvesting solar energy. This is renewable. Does not cause pollution and is available to every nation in the world.

There are many other weapons of mass destruction around, if a nation want to wage a WMD war, they do not need nuclear weapons to do so.. And, every leader knows the consequences of using nuke.. it would be a lose-lose situation for all in this world, don't you think so?..
