I think so, all I ever do with them is drop them on the floor of a store for kids to find and get excited over.

I agree with you. oney is pretty much obsolete these days anyone. Everyone uses their bank debit cards. I think it is better to use my card andhow, because when I am out shopping I don't have to worry about having cash in my pocket. Yesterday I went to the store for now winter clothes and shoes. I spent almost $500. I wouldn't want to carry that amount of money around in my pocket.

I can see how money will one day be just a smart card. But I am not ready to do away with it yet. Nor, am I ready to do away with the penny. I do not throw away my pennies, I save them.
We have a change jar that the kids throw pennies and spare change they find. Their father also throws his spare change at the end of the day. The jar was then only half full and my kids fell in love with a dog at the SPCA. They decided to count their change and turn it in for paper money to buy the dog. They had over $90!!!! Of which, over twenty dollars worth of pennies!!!!
Well, we now own a wonderful little (ok, not so little) Basset hound puppy named Bailey......thanks to change, including pennies.:)

cross, this make me chuckle!
Years ago, after I got done shopping, and the cashier would give me pennies back, I would throw them in the trash before walking out of the store. Then one time my boyfriend saw me and started screaming, "You know what all that money could do? There's starving people out there." and blah, blah.
Now I just give them to the kids. The appreciate them more. My bad.
