How sad is this? A 3 year old tried to jump from a float to her Dad that was walking next to the float and was run over by the back tires of the trailer. She is in serious but stable condition. Then in another local town, a 9 year old boy fell off of a float and died. I guess someone needs to look at some safety procedures for children on parade floats!

Believe it or not injuries and sometimes fatalities happen with adukts and Mardi Gras too. I can think of a few times people have fallen off of floats because they stopped short. If a child is allowed to ride in the parade they should always wear a safety harness (in New Orleans they have to wear one and the adults are suppose to). It is the responsibility of the adult rdiging on the float with the kids as well as the parents of the kids to teach them what to do and not to do.
