I have been there and Rio is very fun. Any latin country is very high spirited. People enjoy life and very simple in living. No complexities like in the US where everyone is worried about appearances, material things, etc.
Rio and Sao Paolo are great places to visit although Sao Paolo is more poluted and busy since its more of a business mecca in the country as Rio is more of a tourist place.
If you want to have fun, go during March which is when they have their Mardi Gras season. Lots of drinking, shows and fun.
When you are there, drink their traditionl drink called caipirina...its a sugar rum drink..yum!

yes,brazil is tropical paradise, igniting the Western imagination like no other South American country. From the mad passion of Carnaval to the immensity of the dark Amazon, it is a country of mythic proportions.
the football is also vrey great,I know brazil is from football first lol.

brazil. well i havent been there myself but one of my best friends lives down there. she lives in rio de janeiro. i am trying to go down because i def. heard it is outta control. some of the stories i hear from her are insane. the drinking age is only 18 i believe and it would be so amazing. and there is def lots of partying

I have been in Brasil few years ago for 2000 New Year Eve and I can confirm that there were many parties all around. really I think that is Copacabana Beach the more trendy area (but I love Ipanema). There is my discussion about Ipanema and Copacabana: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/336489.aspx

Someday I will be there to view the great Brazilian architecture I read in architectural books. Someday I will also tour the adjacent countries and counties around Brazil because of similar cultures and climate. Puerto Rico, Mexico, Costa Rica, are places on my travel list when I retire. Do you have a list of special places you will recommend that I go when i go to Brazil?

I've never been to Brazil but Im always fascinated by their martial arts called 'capoeira'. It's one of the best martial arts Ive ever seen. Love it!
