The multimedia campaign to choose the New 7 Wonders of the World is in its final stage. This is the biggest global vote ever to have taken place. Millions of people have already voted for their
favorite wonders. This will reach its pinnacle on July 7, 2007 (07/07/07)
when the world will discover which monuments have been named as the
New 7 Wonders of the World.

They did something like this on a tv show called Good morning America... they stated what the new 7 wonders were as well as having the world vote for and 8th wonder which turned out to be the Grand Canyon.

I really think the whole thing is ridiculous. Those aren't wonders. They weren't things built that went above and beyond the scope of technology at the time. And this whole 'new wonders' thing kind of defeats the point of the ancient wonders.
Ah well, that's my opinion.

Well, I disagree. The 7 Ancient Wonders of the World were all man-made monuments located around the Mediterranean. That was kind of limiting. Those monuments were/are:
The Lighthouse of Alexandria
The Temple of Artemis
The Statue of Zeus
The Colossus of Rhodes
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
The Pyramids of Egypt
Besides the Pyramids, the rest were pretty tame. I like the idea of the new wonders. They include some stunning things really. IMO.

That is really interesting! thanks for this wonderful posts! this really helps a lot especially to people like me who is always fascinated with current events.I have been following this subject for a while until i got board and shifted my focus on the Guiness Book of World Records. Thanks again!

I think it's cool they're having a vote! I keep seeing different things that say this and that are one of the 7 wonders of the world, and I've seen atleast 15 claimed as one of them! My picks are...
