how about an autographed mini football helmet from his favorite player? You can find them on ebay. Or maybe a custom designed night out with gift cards for a place for dinner, and a comedy club or something like that?

I go for personalize gift. It is valued more that what material it is made of. Some peronalize gift become collectables. Others are good to be put on display as this items are associated with good memories. Good luck.
