Hmmm. Let's see. I like this subject for debate. So may the dialoge begin! The law of nature as you quote, is your paradigm, your belief system. Within this belief system, you state that "awards or punishments" do not exist, only consequences exist. This is a nihilistic point of view. Within nihilism, consequences are only of the value of social construct, hence, a consequence may be positive, thus an "award"; or a consequence may be negative; thus a "punishment". Yet you say nature never replaced your losses; and ask why god is cruel. Within the nihilism of consequence, there is no Divine; there is no God, only action and reaction/consequence. Or--are you refering to the karmic aspect of God? Isn't there also consequences of action in a God defined paradigm? Or is all fated, predestined, a plan of God, over which nature does not matter, for it is predestined that you are to loose these precious items (I'm ignorant as to how much 1 lak converts to US dollars...sorry)-- thus concluding there is no karmic aspect of God. I look forward to your response!

You must be watchful all time. If you are not taken the necessary safety measures it will happen. So be careful and don't curse anybody for that. You are responsible for what happened to you!
