ChaCha.com - where do they get the money to pay their guides?

I just learned about this website here on Mylot. However, I can't figure out how the website makes revenue. I see that they have AdSense ads, but those only make money if someone clicks on them. You can't pay employees (even contracted ones) with "possible" earnings. Maybe the site is operating "in the red" for now and is operating on Venture Capital?
